2GIG GC3e: Installing the XCVR3 GC3
[AUDIO LOGO] Hi DIYers. This is Michael from AlarmGrid. And today, I'm going to be showing you how to install a 2GIG XCVR3 GC3 to a 2GIG GC3e security system. So the 2GIG XCVR3 GC3, this is the image sensor module. You need to add this to the system, you wire in with this four-wire connection, you see four wires here, and it allows you to enroll image sensors with the system. It is a transceiver module, so it can send and receive signals which is necessary for setting up image sensors. So we're going to get this enrolled with the system. I do want to point out one thing with this. It's actually not going to take away the E Series functionality. That's only with the GC2e. So that's a totally different subject. But when you add this, you'll still be able to use the E Series sensors because you're not actually taking anything away. You're just plugging it into the system. So you'll see what I mean when I set up the transceiver module. I mean, I'm sorry, the E Series receiver in the system will still be working fine and you also still be able to use the legacy sensors, the 345 megahertz Honeywell sensors, 2GIG 345 megahertz sensors. That will all be fine. So just know when you add this, everything's going to be good. You'll be able to use your E Series sensors, your Honeywell 5800 Sensors. But anyway, let's get this panel taken off the wall, powered down, and let's get this installed. So now we're going to complete the four-wire connection between the 2GIG XCVR GC3 and the 2GIG GC3e panel. You see we have four wires here. We have black, green, white, and red. So we're just going to do them one by one. They kind of go to four random terminals on the block here. But I'll go over them each. So the only one that you're doing on the large terminal block is the black wire which goes to the G&D terminal, the ground terminal. So we'll start with that one. We'll be able to go and get that in there. And then we're just going to go and time that with our Phillips head screwdriver, small Phillips head screwdriver. Just go and get that timed to make sure that's good, get that all the way timed. There we go. We're going to the green wire now which is on the RX terminal. So that's this one right here, the second one from the top. So let's see, we've green wire and let's just get the other wires out of the way. And we're going to insert it. And then we're just going to take our screwdriver and we're going to go and we're going to take that down. And then we have white going to the TX terminal here. And lastly, we have the red wire which is going to go to the smoke plus terminal. But you see that that's actually not labeled on the panel. That's actually the one next to the OCL2 terminal. It's this one right here. It's not labeled on your system. So be very careful when you're doing this one. But it is the second one from the last. And make sure you're orienting the panel correctly when you're doing this because you might have it facing the other way. So just be very careful when you're doing these connections. So like I said, the white green and red wires are going on a small terminal block and then the black wire is going to go on the other side, at the ground terminal. But we have our connection complete. So now we're going to get it back up on the wall. So we have our connections complete. Now before I forget, we did turn off power before connecting the 2GIG XCVR3 to the GC3e. So now we can restore power to the system. We're going to connect the backup battery first, so we'll just do the connection right here. Let's get into the port and there we go. It won't turn back on until we connect to AC power, which will be our Honeywell LT-CABLE. You might have cut power by pulling out the transformer or cutting power at the circuit breaker, dropping power at the circuit breaker. But restore power, however, you did that. But what we will do with the 2GIG XCVR GC3, we're actually just going to run it through the opening in the wall and just let it hang behind the panel. So that's fine. And then we're going to, like I said, restore AC power. I'm going to get this around and we're going to plug it back into the barrel connector there. Remember when you are dropping power, don't undo the wires from the terminal block. Just good practice. So if when you are dropping power, remember, take the transformer out from the wall outlet or turn off power at the circuit breaker. But we have our panel, good to go. So let's get this out of the way. Actually, we have that in the way to prevent the third hand from being in the way when we were doing the terminal block. And you can use the third hand to hang it from the wall. But that is an option. But we didn't do that today. We got it like this and it looks like we do need to restore power at the transformer as well. We must have unplugged it from the wall here. Let me just make sure I get this on the wall. There we go. And let's get the system powered back on here. There and we plug the transformer back into the wall. So we have our system back on and we have our 2GIG XCVR GC3 installed with the 2GIG GC3e security system. So now we are able to program an image sensor which will be a different video. So that is how you install the 2GIG XCVR GC3 with the 2GIG GC3e.
