Description

In this video, Jarrett shows users how to add additional user codes to a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Alarm System. Each code that is added will be able to Arm and Disarm the panel as needed. You can also restrict a code's access so that it only works for a particular time period. Up to 242 codes can be added.

If you have multiple users for a Qolsys IQ Panel 2, then it is likely that you will want to add multiple system codes. Each code can be provided a unique name so that you know who was operating the system. There are three attributes that you can assign a code. These attributes are "Master", "User" and "Guest". Master Code has additional privileges, in that they can access the Master Tools Menu of Advanced Settings. User Codes and Guest Codes are exactly the same, with Guest Codes just being a fancy name for standard user codes. A Master Code cannot have an expiration date. Only a Guest Code or a standard user code can be assigned an expiration date.

By adding a new code, you can see who Armed and Disarmed the panel at any given time. This is possible from both the panel itself and from Alarm.com. Every time the system is Disarmed, it will display the name of the code that was used to Disarmed. Having multiple codes is also important if you want to use the Facial Recognition feature for each different system user. This feature works by having the IQ Panel 2 System associate a different face with each user code. The panel will produce an image every time a code is used to Disarm the system. The end user will then access Alarm.com and confirm whether or not the produced image is of the person associated with that code. After enough images are confirm, Alarm.com will alert the user if a suspicious person attempts to disarm the system using their code.

Hey DIY-ers, Jarrett with Alarm Grid here. Today we're going to be discussing how you would add additional user codes to the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. Now, the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 can take up to about 242 different user codes that you can use with the system. You can set the user codes as either a master code, a standard user code, or even a guest code. Now, a user code is normally used, or it is the general code that is used, with alarm systems to be able to arm, disarm the system, access certain panel functions, sometimes even certain system settings. So for the Qolsys IQ Panel 2, a standard user code for instance is able to arm and disarm the system. But it's not able to access certain systems settings. Now, the master code, that is normally used to be able to arm and disarm the system, access certain panel functions, and even access the more advanced settings of the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. Now, the guest code that is basically the same thing as a standard user code. It just has the more fancier guest title in front of it. Now, you can arm disarm with that code. But you're still not able to access certain system settings like you would with a user code. Now, certain codes, other than the master code, can be set with an expiration date if you want to have that set. So for instance, if you were a homeowner or a business owner and you had somebody coming over to do some work or whatnot and if you weren't home at the time so you wanted to give them their own code, you can assign them either a standard user code or a guest code with an expiration date. So if you know they're supposed to be done within a certain period of time or they're only supposed to be there that day and you're not able to make it there or what not, you can set that expiration so that after that dates that you have chosen has passed by, then that code will no longer work with the system, so that you can ensure that if they do happen to come back while you're not there, they can't do anything with the alarm system, because their code is no longer working. Now, the benefits, there is a benefit of being able to have individual users using their own individual codes. The main benefit to doing that, especially if you're a homeowner or a business owner, is mainly for logging purposes. So if you were away from the business or away from the home and you see that your system is being armed and disarmed, you don't know who is doing it, that's the benefit of doing the individual user codes so you can see who is arming and disarming your system and what time they're doing this so that you could tell what's going on with the system and who's interacting with it when you're not there. So if you were a user and you did want to add additional user codes to the Qolsys IQ Panel 2, you'll follow these simple steps. So on the main screen, you're going to hit the small gray bar on the top of the screen. And then it's going to bring a dropdown. So in the dropdown, you're going to click Settings. And then on the right side on the bottom, you're going to click Advanced Settings. Enter user code. And you can either use the installer code, the dealer code, or the master code for the system. But for this video, I'm just going to use the installer code. That's normally what you would use with the alarm systems. So the default installer code for the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 is 1111. So when you're in the next menu, you're just going to press User Management. And this is going to take you to the screen with all the individual users that are already programmed to the system. So if you wanted to add a new user, then on the bottom of the screen, you're going to click Add User. And you'll see right here, it's going to ask for the first and last name on the top. Right there in the middle, you're going to see User Code. So that's where you're going to type in the code that you want them to use. And right next to it is going be Confirm User Code so that you can make sure you aren't typing in the wrong code by accident. And as you can see in the bottom left, you'll have the option to either set it as a standard user, as a guest code, or even the master code if you wanted to. And as I did explain early in the video about the expiration date, you can see at the bottom right right here where it has the option for expiration date. And if you did want to set that, you're just going to tap this. And it's going to bring up a calendar so that you can choose the exact dates of when you want that code to expire. Now, if you didn't want to add an expiration date, then you can just basically leave it alone and keep it as unlimited if you wanted to. So once you have confirmed all the information you've already filled it all out and you're ready to add the user, all you got to do in the bottom of the page or the bottom of the screen is click Add User. And when you do that, it's going to take you back to this screen. So once you have confirmed that the user has been added to the list, then at that point, all you got to do is just press the House button on the bottom of the screen right here. And it takes you all the way back to the Home screen. And that is how you add additional user codes to the Qolsys IQ Panel 2.
