Description
In this video, Dylan from Alarm Grid walks you through the step-by-step process to factory reset the PGP9986 and remove it from IQ Panel 4 programming. This can be helpful if you're having trouble enrolling the sensor, or you want to use it with a different panel.

The DSC PGP9986 is a PowerG+ flood and freeze sensor that works with both the IQ4 panels and the IQ Pro. For full compatibility, make sure your panel firmware is up-to-date — version 4.6.1 or higher for IQ4 panels, and version 4.4.1n or higher for the IQ Pro.

There are many reasons you might need to default your sensor:
Troubleshooting programming issues
Moving the sensor to a different panel
Resolving unusual behavior or false alerts
No matter the reason, the reset process is quick and simple - it only takes a few seconds to complete. If the Water Tile has been programmed with a panel, it should also be deleted from the panel either before or after the sensor default. Once that's been done, it's ready to program back into the panel, or with a different panel.
Some insurance companies may require flood and/or freeze protection. In some cases, having this protection and letting your insurance agent know can get you a discount on homeowner's insurance that quickly allows this investment to pay for itself. Check with your insurance agent today!

[AUDIO LOGO] Hi, DIYers. Dylan here with AlarmGrid. Today we're going to review how do I default the PGP986 water tile. So the reason for defaulting is if you are having trouble getting this program to your system initially. So if you're following the proper steps, either doing the battery insert option, where you put a battery in the tamper, or if you use the actual enrollment button on the front of the device.
So if none of those are working, defaulting the sensor can definitely help with that. And also if you're moving this from one panel to another, even if you delete it from the panel, it's just good practice to default the sensor as well. So I'll show you how to get that done, show how the sensor reacts once that is properly done. And also we already have this program to our system. So I'll show you how to delete it from the system as well.
So we have our PGP986 sensor, and it's already programmed to our system. We have a couple other videos showing how to first set this up and then how to program and test it. So say we want to reset this back to the factory settings. It is fairly simple. What we're going to do is press and hold the button in the middle for about two to three seconds until we get the amber LED. When that shows, we're going to release and then press and hold again for about 16 seconds. And then we're going to get a red LED that will flash about three times.
[BEEPING]
There we go. All right. So we got the three LEDs there. Again, because the button does require some pressure, so when you first do the three second, you get the yellow LED release and then immediately hold again while it's still lit. And then just keep holding this down as firmly as you can. If you do get random beeps here and there, you may not be applying enough pressure to the button and it's releasing. But if you're holding it down properly with enough force, you'll then get that red LED to indicate the sensor has been defaulted.
And since we already had this programmed to the system, what we want to do is delete security sensors. Delete. Because while it's defaulted, it's not going to work properly. So we'll just delete those. And then if we wanted to program it back, we would be able to. All right. And then essentially, the reason you'd want to default the sensor is if initially if you're having issues getting it programmed to the panel, that default will help as a reset. And then it should just program in right away.
Or if you're moving from one panel to another, that's also just a good idea just to do that default just in case. So there's no possibility that even if it's deleted from one panel, no signal is still being sent. Defaulting can certainly help with that as well.
