Description
The Alarm.com ADC-S2000-T is a 2nd generation temperature sensor. It is Z-Wave Plus certified, and supports the Z-Wave S2 encryption protocol. This protects against any wireless signal vulnerability, such as a man-in-the-middle style attack. In addition to its ability to be used as a stand-alone temperature sensor in a Z-Wave network, it can also be used in conjunction with an Alarm.com ADC-T3000 or ADC-T2000 smart thermostat.
When using the ADC-S2000-T with one of the Alarm.com Smart Thermostats, the thermostat must be on firmware version 1.20 or higher. To find the version of your thermostat, on an ADC-T3000 press the ➖ button, then About, then Version. You're looking for the MFW version number. To find the current version on the ADC-T2000, first put the thermostat into OFF mode. Press and hold the Λ button until the display changes from the temperature to a version number, i.e. 1.30, 1.50,1.60, etc. Press the Λ button again to cycle to the version number indicated with the ♨/❅ icons. Be careful, the version indicated along with the WIFI symbol is not the thermostat's firmware version.
As a Z-Wave Plus certified device, the ADC-S2000-T enjoys increased signaling range and longer battery life. A single CR123 battery, which is included, provides about three (3) years of life with normal use. The sensor also supports S2 encryption when used with the Alarm.com ADC-T3000 thermostat. It can be configured to use S0 security when used with the ADC-T2000 or with the ADC-T3000 if you choose to set it up that way. However, S2 is always recommended when possible.
