The DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N is a unique wireless keypad option for the DSC PowerSeries NEO. It can only be used with the DSC PowerSeries NEO if a PowerG Transceiver has already been added to the system in some capacity. The HS2LCDWFP9ENG N communicates across the PowerG Wireless Protocol.
To be clear, the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N is NOT a PowerG Transceiver for the DSC PowerSeries NEO. Rather, it is a wireless keypad for the DSC PowerSeries NEO that can only be used if a PowerG Transceiver has already been added to the system. This PowerG Transceiver can come in the form of a DSC HSM2HOST9 Standalone PowerG Transceiver, or it can be from a previously added keypad that includes a built-in PowerG Transceiver. However, you should not attempt to use the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N unless you have at least one (1) PowerG Transceiver already set up with the DSC PowerSeries NEO System.
Officially, the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N is often referred to by DSC as the Wire-Free Keypad for the DSC PowerSeries NEO. You might also know it as the DSC PowerSeries NEO Wireless Keypad. The DSC PowerSeries NEO is a hardwired security system out of the box. You can make it into a hybrid system with both wired and wireless device support by adding a PowerG Transceiver to the system. Once you do this, the system is capable of supporting PowerG Wireless Sensors, as well as the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N Wire-Free Keypad. As a wired system, the DSC PowerSeries NEO does not have many wireless keypad options. But the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N is one of the rare wireless keypad options for the NEO.
In most situations, the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N will not be used as a primary system keypad. It is usually only added a secondary keypad, after a wired keypad with a PowerG Transceiver has been added. The only possible way that the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N could be used as the only system keypad is if the PowerSeries NEO was already set up with the DSC HSM2HOST9 Standalone PowerG Transceiver, and then the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N was configured with the system and made to be the primary keypad. Such a scenario is very uncommon.
Instead, the more likely scenario for the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N Keypad is that the system is already set up with a primary keypad device, with the primary keypad including a PowerG Transceiver, and then one or more DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N Keypads are added to serve as secondary keypad controllers for the DSC PowerSeries NEO System. As secondary keypads, you might put the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N in other locations for coming and going. The main keypad might be by the front door, but then you could have additional keypads by the garage door, by the backdoor, or by a basement exit. Another common option is to put a secondary keypad in the master bedroom so that a user can control their system before going to sleep.
As the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N is technically an Alphanumeric Keypad, it can be used for deep-level programming and setting up the system. It has a 2x16 character LCD display. Its backlit screen and backlit keys make it easy to control and operate at night. The five function keys on the DSC HS2LCDWFP9ENG N are written in English, as opposed to having icons and symbols like other DSC PowerSeries NEO Keypads. Specifically, these are the keys for Stay, Away, Chime, Reset, and Exit. The keypad has multi-language support, and while the function keys on the keypad itself might be shown in English, you can change the LCD screen to display in a language other than English if desired. This keypad has tamper detection to let the system know if someone tries to open it up. This keypad does not support Proximity Tags.
Please note that this Keypad is only for use with a DSC PowerSeries NEO System that already has an added PowerG Transceiver. It CANNOT be used with other PowerG Systems, such as the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus, the Qolsys IQ Hub, or the DSC Iotega. Also note the power requirements for this keypad. This keypad comes with a plug-in 9VDC, 1.25A transformer, which typically serves as the primary power source. However, you can also run the keypad off of four (4) AA batteries. Normally, the AA batteries serve as a backup power source. But if you want to run the keypad off AA batteries only, then that is technically an option. Remember that you will need to replace the batteries periodically depending upon usage. For best functionality, it is strongly advised that you run the keypad off of its plug-in transformer whenever the power is not out.
