Description

The Honeywell 5800PIR-OD is a wireless outdoor motion detector. If you have outdoor areas or valuables that need protection, you no longer need to deal with expensive and labor intensive trenches to get a motion detector in place. The 5800PIR-OD is an efficient and cost effective solution for protecting pool areas, detached garages, sheds, driveways, parking lots, rooftops, alleyways, loading docks or any other restricted outdoor area. With an operating temperature of -4° to 122° F and an IP54 weatherproof case design, the 5800PIR-OD can withstand any environment. The maximum coverage area is 40 feet by 30 feet.

The wireless outdoor motion detector is unique in that is has (2) separate passive infrared (PIR) sensors that both look at different areas. Motion detection in a single zone will not trigger an alarm so that debris or animals will not trigger false alarms. An intruder however, will be detected by both sensors and therefore will trigger an alarm.

The actual sensitivity of the 5800PIR-OD motion detection is selectable. The sensitivity select switch is located inside the motion detector below the upper PIR sensor. The low sensitivity is best to prevent false alarms and the high sensitivity is best for detecting all motion. We recommend using the high setting for high security awareness. There is also a medium sensitivity setting. Beyond setting the sensitivity of detection, you can also use dip switch (3) to select the desired pulse count. When set to a pulse count of (2), the 5800PIR-OD will detect motion with as few as (2) human steps. When set to a pulse count of (4), the wireless outdoor motion detector will not pick up the motion detection until (4) steps. The range pattern of the Honeywell 5800PIR-OD motion detector is also selectable. The upper PIR sensor always looks straight out parallel from the 5800PIR-OD. However, you can use the detection length adjustment switch to move the lower sensor which will determine the true length of detection. It is recommended to install the wireless outdoor motion detector between 2.7' and 4' from the center of the lens to the ground. When installed at a height of 3.3', the 5800PIR-OD will detect motion 40' out when set to the (A) position, 26.7' out when set to (B), 16.7' out when set to (C) and 6.7' out when set to (D). You can also use the detection area angle adjustment to shift the 90° detection angle 15° to the left or right which each click.

The 5800PIR-OD has a battery saving feature that is turned on by default and is toggled on or off by dip switch (2). With dip switch (2) set to off, motion detection by the 5800PIR-OD will send an alarm activation followed by an immediate restoral signal and then the motion detector will enter sleep mode for (2) minutes. Any subsequent detections will not trigger an alarm. After the (2) minute sleep period, the 5800PIR-OD will go back to active mode so that it will trigger an alarm upon motion detection. For higher security applications or when up-to-date information is critical, you can toggle the dip switch to the on position. The 5800PIR-OD will then only sleep for (5) seconds after each alarm activation. The (4) included AA lithium batteries power the 5800PIR-OD and should last (4) years when using the battery saving feature and up to (1.5) years when using the higher security (5) second sleep mode.

A pole mounting kit and screws are included so that you can mount the Honeywell 5800PIR-OD outdoor motion detector to a pole or flush against a wall.

It would be cheaper to buy a video camera. I dont get the price.
Yes, you can setup a Z-Wave scene to activate on the 5800PIR-OD zone (fault or alarm) to then activate a Z-Wave light.
Can the 5800 PIR-OD be used to activate exterior lights which are Z wave controlled at a Vista 20P panel with a VAM module?
