Honeywell 5834-2

The Honeywell 5834-2 is a two button wireless security key fob which is compatible with the Honeywell 5800 series of wireless products such as the LYNX series, and Honeywell VISTA Series security system (when equipped with a wireless receiver). The (2) programmable buttons are typically used for arming and disarming the security system, but they can be programmed to perform any system zone function, such as an audible or silent panic alarm. The 5834-2 also has a third programmable function which is activated by pressing and holding both of the (2) key fob buttons. The 5834-2 is functionally similar to the Honeywell 5834-4, but with only two buttons instead of four, limiting the device to (3) functions.

The Honeywell 5834-2 security key fob is built with recessed buttons, and requires a button press to last 1/2 second in order to prevent false alarms when the device is placed in a pocket or purse. The 5834-2 is equipped with a LED which flashes to notify a user that the signal is being transmitted to the compatible Honeywell wireless security system. If the LED does not flash when a button is activated, this indicates that the 5834-2 has a low battery. The 5834-2 security key fob has (2) serial numbers, the second of which is (1) digit higher than the serial number printed on the back of the unit. Serial number 1 is used to program each button, and serial number 2 is used to program the multi-button function. Each button of the 5834-2 should be programmed as in individual zone with a “BR” (Button Type RF) input type in order to ensure that the security system it is programmed to does not display trouble signals when the device is taken out of range. The 5834-2 has a range of approximately 50’ nominal.

The Honeywell 5834-2 comes with a pre-installed replaceable 3V lithium battery which lasts for 3-5 years.
