hey deal wires I'm George from alarm grid today we're gonna be going over how to switch partitions on a Honeywell Vista system so Honeywell Vista systems usually come with three partitions partition one partition two and partition three which is the common partition what a partition allows you to do is independently arm and disarm a certain area of the alarm system so for instance let's say you have a you home and in the home you also have your own office space and everything like that in a separate room you can actually separate that office into a different partition away from the home so you can independently arm the office and leave the house disarmed or vice versa arm the home and leave the office disarmed so there's different things that you different applications that many people find for partitions but just know that it's what allows you to independently arm and disarm certain areas of the alarm system so for instance right now just going off the example that I gave you guys don't but you know having a main home and an office in the house I actually have this both keypads our own partition one and this is actually an alphanumeric keypad this is a fixed English keypad if you notice the alphanumeric one actually shows the name of the partition which I named specifically main home this one is also on partition one but since it's fixed English it does not show you the partition name or number so you have to be careful when you're using a fixed English keypad I would recommend getting to 61 60 s if you're going to be using partitions and having separate keypads for each partition the partition is addressed when you address the keypad so these two I addressed and they're both on partition 1 so one little thing about this is if you're using one keypad fur to control multiple partitions keep in mind that that keypad has its own designated partition so if you want to use that one keypad to switch partitions you have to use the go to command so what I'm going to show you guys how to do that right now in one second the go-to command to do that you're gonna need the mass code to go to command which is star and then the partition number for me I'm gonna be using two so I'm gonna go ahead enter in my master code one two three four star to right so my default master code is one two three four yours could be different depending if you're monitoring company or yourself if you've changed it you'll see as I switch to partition 2 you'll see now it says office in the top left this one I have not switched it to partition two so it's not going to show you anything but one little caveat remember if I've if you're using one keypad to control multiple partitions you use the go to command but once you do the go to command since this one is originally set to partition 1 after 30 seconds of inactivity it goes back to the original partition so now you're going to see main home which is what my partition 1 was named because that's what it is now I'm gonna show you guys how to independently arm separate partitions but I'm gonna show you guys is this one right now is partition 1 right its main home I'm gonna use this keypad here to go to partition 2 so I'm going to enter in my master code 1 2 3 4 thus go to command star and to give me a beeping confirmation so now I have partition 1 partition 2 and I have to arm this before 30 seconds or else it's gonna go back to partition 1 now you're gonna see I'm gonna on this one away and partition 2 now begins to arm partition 1 its toe shows disarmed why because I'm independently arming partition 2 from the partition 1 which is here after 30 seconds this will probably switch back to partition 1 so you're gonna see this ready this armed light is going to be on for partition 2 within 30 seconds it'll switch back to partition 1 and the ready light will come on see I'm light because now it's such a switch back to partition one and no longer is in the partition two however if I switch back to partition two I'm using them whichever keypad watch I'll even use this keypad one two three four star - it was actually still arming it was still giving me that exit delay because the exit delay is longer than 30 seconds so remember after thirty seconds of inactivity it goes back to the original one the exit delay for this must have been 45 or 60 seconds so now you'll see this one's in partition two and it shows armed this one now I have it to partition one I'm gonna switch back just to partition one and now I'm on the main home so right now my office is armed correct I'm gonna show you guys the common partition now this is where things start getting a little interesting right so let's say your partition one is disarmed partition two is armed away partition three the common partition is going to be disarmed so now I'm in partition three the common partition and it's disarmed now what happens if I armed partition one two away now so so now I'm in partition one you'll see main home I'm gonna armed it away once this one goes into an arm away my partition three which is the common partition will also be armed away now you'll see here see my partition 3 you can't really see it on this one cuz it's fixed English and it doesn't show you the partition we're on but I'll show you this one here 1 2 3 4 star 3 and partition 3 will show armed away and now I switch back to partition 1 so we're just waiting for those exit delays to go down to 0 here we go now we have partition one armed away partition two armed away so because both partitions now are set to arm away that makes the common partition also set to arm away again I'm gonna show you I'm gonna enter in the master code 1 2 3 4 go to star and then 3 and you'll see armed away still showing me a system low battery that's just my troubles so I'm gonna go ahead and arm or I'm gonna disarm just my partition 1 so I'm gonna do the go to 1 and I'm just gonna disarm partition 1 so my main home now is disarmed and if I go to partition 2 that one is still armed away alright it's armed away good now I'm gonna go back to my partition 1 now what happens if you have one location armed stay the other one armed away it's gonna go into armed stay the common partition will be armed stay right so if you have one partition armed stay and the other one armed away the common partition will revert to the armed state ok there is also in a way to set the command to arm all the partitions for that all you have to do is enter in the master code zero and then the command so for instance if I wanted to disarm all the partitions notice how neither of these aren't partition - I can still disarm every partition by hitting the master code zero one it'll disarm my main home which was already disarmed but remember the second partition was armed away right watch this go to to office now office now is showing ready before was armed so you can actually use that zero it's gonna it's gonna apply to all the partitions watch if I do this one here one two three four zero all the way it's gonna set all my partitions to armed way and again I can stop it by going walk one two three four zero one yeah so as you can see using the go to command on one keypad is doable if that's all you guys have it is recommended however that you guys do to keypads or multiple keep has one for each partition you guys have there are vista systems out there that do handle more than three partitions so just something to keep in mind but yeah if you guys can make sure you get two keypads if you guys only have one you're gonna use you're gonna need to use the go to command which is the star and then the partition number alright if you guys do have any questions about partitions or the business systems do feel free to email us at support at alarm code comm if you guys found this video helpful make sure that you hit like underneath subscribe to your YouTube channel and enable notifications that way whenever we upload a new content you guys are notified and I'm George I'll see you guys next time
