hi do is joy from alarm grid and today we're going to show you how to set up night stay zones on your Vista security system what night's stay is it's an arming mode on the security system that's very similar to stay mode except that it allows you to pick out devices that are programmed in as motions to be active those devices will either have the the zone types of interior follower or interior with delay and the usefulness of this mode is that you can pick out certain devices to be armed in stay mode this is commonly used a good example is if you have a bedroom on the second floor you can pick specific motions on the first floor to be armed when you're going to bed in stay mode it doesn't have to be just motions though any device that's programmed with the interior follower or the interior with delay zone type or zone response those will be able to be used with this mode and you can get really creative with which devices you want to be active in the stay mode so over here we have vista 21ip system and we have 261 or a 5800 pir-res motions they're down here right now I got one of them as you can see but what we're going to have to do is program them into the system and then we're gonna have to set them up as night stay tones so the first note we're going to do is we're going to go into system programming on our vista to do that we're going to enter four one one two eight zero zero so you can see we're in installer programming now we're going to do star five six to enter zone programming the first thing I want to enter is 0 to confirm for no so enter star and then we're going to program this to zone number ten you have to program above zone number eight for wireless zones so we'll enter one zero for ten for the zone number and then we'll hit star and this is the zone summary screen we're going to hit star to go through it the zone type we enter 0 for that's interior follower which will have this motion work in a way mode but it won't have it work in stay mode an interior follower means that when an entry door is open the motion is gonna follow the entry delay so it won't be able to be triggered during that countdown allowing you to walk in the house and disarm the security system so we're gonna hit star to confirm for that it's going to be on partition one that's totally fine well enter 1 for the first field and the report code not that we're gonna use it to report right now but it's a good practice to get in a habit of it just means that that will send an alarm signal to the central station if your system is monitored with central station that's gonna have to be on if you don't want this particular zone to signal to a central station you put a zero in the first column and you're all set its star its RF transmitter so we're gonna have input type 3 that's correct its star to confirm and then the serial number is right here for this one we're just going to punch it in manually so it's 0 6 8 8 3 7 8 hits star and these motions work on loop 1 so we're gonna hit star for that there's our summary that's showing us that we did enter the program incorrectly we can hit star to confirm for that and this is asking us to program the alpha or the zone descriptors of it we're not going to do this through hand programming as it's really tedious we're just going to go with the zone numbers for today's demonstration so hit zero is already entered in the field we'll hit star to confirm and now we're back into the zone selection screen for zone programming so let's program in our other motion so we have another identical motion right here it's gonna zone number 11 we're okay with that so start there's our begin summary screen it's going to show us that none of the programming has been done yet let's star zone type 0 for enter your follower hits star partition 1 it's totally fine we'll do one for the report code it's an RF transmitter telling us that it's a wireless device that's what we want and then let's manually enter the serial number so we're going to do 1 0 1 4 0 9 6 its star it's gonna work on loop 1 for this particular motion so I'll hit so for that and there's our summary screen showing that we did enter the program incorrectly hit start to lock that in program alpha we don't want to do that right now so hit star and then we've done our zone programming so now both these motions are programmed into this system as wireless devices as interior follower motions so we're set at least for our programming and our devices now we have to tell the system that one of them is going to be a night stay motion and the other is not the one that's not we can just leave a loan but we will have to go into the zone list programming and tell it that one of these motions is going to work in night's stay mode so we'll have to end exit the zone programming screen so enter 0 0 2 quit now we're back in installer programming to go to the zone list programming you're going to do star 8 1 and now we're in the zone list programming there's lots of cool things you can do with this feature I would definitely recommend reaching out to your alarm monitoring company if you do have your system monitored as it does get kind of complicated and they'll be able to help explain the different things you can do with this feature and how to even set it up what we're going to use is own list number 5 a zealous number 5 is the list that lets us assign the United States to zones and our system so to do that we're going to enter 0 5 and then star and now it's telling us to enter zone numbers you can continually enter zone numbers you just have to enter the two-digit zone number and then hit star it'll plug it in and it'll allow you to enter another zone after that it's convenient if you do have a bunch of motions that you do want to assign this attribute to it lets you not have to go through the whole process again but we're just going to assign it to one of our motions so let's assign it to motion number 10 or the motion that's programmed to zone number 10 we're going to enter 1 0 and then star and now we've just assigned at the 9 stay attribute we're going to do 0 0 to quit this is asking us if we want to delete the zone list we don't so we're going to enter star to say no this is asking us if we wanted lead to zone which we also don't so we're gonna hit star to say no and now we're back to the overview for the star 81 program so we're going to exit this well do zero zero and then we'll do a star nine nine to go back to the main menu now the motions that we have these 5800 pir-res when you remove the battery and put the battery back in it puts it into a walk test mode on the motion for ten minutes that means whenever the motion is triggered you're gonna see the light appear on the front of it so to show you how this works with night stay I'm going to pop the batteries out of these put them back in and that way we'll be able to see which motion is active and what it's doing so just open the bottom of it pop out the battery as you can see pop it back in and then close the motion up so we have our light that's going to start flashing and then it's going to start responding to whatever it sees motion so I'm going to do it to this one two batteries out batteries back in as you can see the motions are now ready to go they're going to illuminate that LED light whenever they do see motion and they're gonna stay like this for about ten minutes this allows you to walk around the house find the best mounting place for the motion and see which areas of detection it's going to pick up for us though what it's going to show is when we armed the system in two night stay mode only the motion that has the nice day attribute is going to activate which is exactly what wanted to do so to do this we'll wait for them both to become disarmed actually you know what I'm gonna put sticky notes on the front of them this will stop them from getting triggered until we want to test them in the in the night stay mode all right so our motions are covered now I should mention if you do have a tuxedo touch the way to arm tonight stay mode is you're going to click on security and then you'll see right here there's the night option that alarm the system in night stay mode on your 6160 RF keypad we have to enter a valid user code and then enter 3 and then 3 again so we're going to enter 1 2 3 4 3 and then 3 and as you can see it's arming into the night stay mode right now we have a 50 sec or a 60 second X delay on the system which means that the system's going to count down the 60 seconds until it is in the armed mode after it does get armed then we'll be able to to test the motions so now you can see or hear out there that the system is armed in tonight's state mode and we're going to show that one of the motions is not going to trigger alarm and the other motion is going to trigger an alarm if I take the sticky note off this one this is not the night state motion and it should not trigger an alarm in this mode as we did remove the battery it still has its internal lock test and it's going to show us when it's active but that's only going to last for 10 minutes and that doesn't have anything to do with the security system as you can see when we take the sticky note off this why don't we should get an alarm which is what we got so we're going to disarm the system one two three four one and now we're disarmed and as you can see the motion is functioning as we expected it to again this mode is great if you have devices around your house that you want to be active in the stay mode a common uses if you're going to bed at night and you have motions on the first floor or in certain areas of the home that you do want to be active but you can really use it for whatever features or devices you would like to use it on thanks for watching if you did enjoy the video feel free to subscribe if you want to be updated when we post
