Description

In this video, Joe shows users how they can stream Alarm.com Security Cameras directly from an IQ Panel 2 System. This feature is available for select ADC Cameras on IQ Panel 2 Systems that are running Firmware Version 2.2.1 or greater. The IQ Panel 2 and ADC Camera must be on the same WIFI network.

Normally, a user would have to access the Alarm.com service if they wanted to view the live feed for their ADC Cameras. This is possible through a web browser or through the Alarm.com Mobile App. However, Qolsys has made it possible for users to stream the live feed directly from the IQ Panel 2 screen. This can be convenient if a user wants to take a quick peak at their camera while they are at their system.

It is important to note that the feature only works with certain ADC Cameras. These are mostly newer-style cameras that connect to the network via WIFI. We recommend checking to make sure your ADC camera supports the feature before attempting to perform a live stream through the IQ Panel 2. Additionally, some cameras can also be used for two-way voice through the IQ Panel 2. This way, the user can have a live conversation with whoever is in front of the camera. Again, the audio streaming feature is only available for select ADC Cameras.

If you want to use an ADC Camera for live panel streaming, you will need to first enable the feature from Alarm.com. It's possible that you may need to reboot the IQ Panel 2 System before the streaming option will appear. The menu should be accessible from the main screen after swiping to the "Live Video Cameras" Menu. Please keep in mind that you will need an alarm monitoring plan that includes both video surveillance and access to Alarm.com for this to be possible.

Hi, DIYers. It's Joe from Alarm Grid, and today we're going to want to talk about streaming a video camera to your Qolsys IQ2 panel. Now the panels that do support this are the IQ2 Plus and the regular IQ2. It's just that the regular one is going to have to be on firmware version 2.2.1 or higher to be able to support this feature. Another thing that you're going to have to enable is that if you don't already have video streaming with your system, you're going to need to speak to your alarm provider so that they can enable the feature for you so that you can use this. And just keep in mind if you're on a certain level plan, you may need to upgrade it to get video monitoring. But you will have to speak to your alarm provider to find out what is required with it. Now today, we have an IQ2 panel set up. It's already activated on Alarm.com. We also have a ADC-522IR camera that is compatible with this service. If you go on our website, you will see a list of cameras on this FAQ that are compatible with the video streaming. They're not all compatible with this feature yet. So if you are looking to use this, just make sure that you confirm what camera you're going to get before you actually purchase it because there is a chance that it may not be compatible. Now on the panel, you really don't have to do much. It is recommended that the camera and the panel are on the same Wi-Fi network. But after you have video monitoring enabled, what you're going to want to do is log in to your Alarm.com profile through a web browser. And then navigate to a video option to enable the feature. We're going to do that for you now, so let me log in and follow along. So as you can see, I'm at the user log in for Alarm.com. I have my credentials entered, and I'm going to click on Log In. So I'm going to click the drop-down button in the upper left hand corner, and I'm going to click on Video. And then I'm going to click on Settings on the right-hand side. I'm going to scroll down to enable Stream Video to Security Panel Screen, as you can see right there on the bottom. So if I click on that option, I'll pull up the submenu. And all I have to do is check this box on the right-hand side to enable this feature. I'm going to click Save, and we have a prompt that says it's successfully setup. So now we're really all set on the log in, so I'm going to go ahead and head on back to the panel. And now on our IQ2-- on the main screen, to get to the video selection, I'm going to slide right. And then slide right again, and then slide right again. And as you can see, that's the camera that's across from me right over there. If I click the Play button, it should establish a stream, and we should start streaming. And it is actually streaming in real time. It's a great feature to use if you do have this panel and these compatible cameras. You will need an Alarm.com account activated, and it will have to support video streaming to use this service. If you do have any questions about setting up your IQ2 panel with Alarm.com cameras for streaming, Alarm.com in general, or security system questions in general, feel free to give us a call at 888-818-7728.
