Honeywell 5800RP

The Honeywell 5800RP is a wireless repeater that works with Honeywell 5800 Series Sensors. The module will take any transmission from a Honeywell 5800 Series Sensor and send it out a second time. This will double the wireless range of the sensor and help overcome communication issues.

Most Honeywell 5800 Series Sensors have a wireless range of about 200 feet on their own. By using a wireless repeater, you can effectively double this range to a maximum distance of 400 feet. A wireless repeater like the 5800RP is also good for overcoming communication problems caused by obstacles like thick walls and large metal appliances. If you are finding that one or more of your 5800 Series Sensors is not communicating with your panel properly, then you might try to use a Honeywell 5800RP to see if that helps.

When using the Honeywell 5800RP, you do not need to enroll it with the panel. This is a plug-and-play device that will begin repeating compatible 345 MHz signals from Honeywell 5800 Sensors as soon as it is powered on. However, you can still enroll it with your panel for supervision purposes. By doing this, the module will alert your system whenever it experiences a tamper cover condition, an AC loss condition, or a low battery condition. Keep in mind that enrolling the 5800RP to your panel will require one zone on your security system.

The Honeywell 5800RP requires a plug-in transformer and a battery pack for power. Only the battery comes included with the device. You will need to obtain a transformer separately. A good transformer to use is the Honeywell 300-07753 AC Transformer. A power cable to connect the transformer is also required. We advise using the Honeywell LT-Cable for this purpose. The backup battery pack is known as the Honeywell K0257, and you can get a replacement here if needed. Remember, the unit will only switch to backup power if transformer power is unavailable.

Please note that the Honeywell 5800RP can only repeat the 345 MHz signals from 5800 Series Sensors. The module cannot repeat signals from 2GIG Sensors, even though they also operate at the 345 MHz frequency. Alarm Grid also offers the 2GIG RPTR1-345, which will repeat signals from 5800 Sensors and 2GIG 345 MHz Sensors. However, the 2GIG RPTR1-345 cannot repeat 345 MHz signals from bi-directional 5800 Series devices like the Honeywell 5828 Keypad and the Honeywell 5800WAVE Siren. Only the 5800RP can do that.

Note: The Honeywell 5800RP can only repeat signals once. You cannot use multiple 5800RP units to continuously repeat signals from Honeywell 5800 Series Sensors. Each transmission can only be repeated once, for a maximum wireless range of 400 feet nominal.
