Including the Yale Z-Wave Door Lock to the Lyric Controller

In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid shows you how to pair a Yale Z-Wave Door Lock with a Honeywell Lyric Alarm System. Pairing a Yale Lock is something you will want to do if you are trying to control the lock locally from the panel or remotely from Total Connect 2.0. The pairing process is very simple, and you do not need to perform an exclusion process first, which is normally done before pairing for most Z-Wave devices.
In order to complete the inclusion process, you will need to know the Master Pin for the Yale Lock. The Master Pin is set when you first set up the lock. The pairing process is completed by activating the inclusion function for the Yale Z-Wave Lock, while the Lyric System is in its Z-Wave inclusion mode. This mode can be easily accessed from within the system's Automation Tools Menu. Also keep in mind that you should have the lock in close proximity to the Lyric System before attempting to include.
As for activating the inclusion function for the Yale Z-Wave Lock, it is actually quite simple. You simply enter the Master Pin, followed by the Gear Icon in the lower-right corner, and then the [7] key. The digit 1 should be displayed to indicate that the lock has entered its inclusion mode. If you see a 3 instead of a 1, then you are actually in the lock's exclusion mode, and you should first exclude, or clear, it from the network. But if you do indeed see a 1, then you can press the Gear Icon instead to confirm.
If everything was performed correctly, you should then see a message on the Lyric stating that a new device has been included. Please note that it will typically take a few minutes before the Lock is fully paired and it is usable on the Lyric System.

[ALARM GRID SOUND BRAND] Hi, DYI'ers. This is Michael from Alarm Grid. And today, I'm going to show you how to pair your Yale Z-Wave lock with your Honeywell Lyric Controller. Now, the Honeywell Lyric has a built-in Z-Wave controller, so it can pretty much add almost any Z-Wave device to it. Z-Wave is generally universal, so you should have no problem pairing the lock with your Lyric controller. Now when you first set up the lock, you'll be asked to set up a master pin. So we're going to be using that as part of the process. To keep it simple, we set ours to 1234. Yours might be different. Probably it's different, but in our case, we have 1234. So we're going to start on the Lyric. We're going to put it into its inclusion mode. By the way, the lock is smart. You don't really need to do an exclusion process here. You can if you're experiencing trouble. You might also consider defaulting a lock. We have separate videos on excluding the lock and defaulting lock, but we're just going to go through the inclusion process here today. And we're just going to go to Automation here, and then we're going to press the down arrow. And we're going to go to Tools, and we're going to go to Include Devices. And that's putting the Lyric into its inclusion mode, but we also need to put the lock into its inclusion mode. So now that we have our Lyric Controller into its Z-Wave inclusion mode. We're going to access the Z-Wave inclusion mode on our Yale Z-Wave lock. So we're going to tap the keypad a few times, and it will appear. And there it is, so we're going to enter in our master pin, 1234. And then we're going to press this gear icon in the bottom right. Menu mode. Enter number. And now it's in-- Press the gear key to continue. It's in Menu mode. And in this case, we want to press 7. Wireless Module Setting mode. Press the gear key to continue. And then we press the gear key again to continue. Join the wireless network. And 1 means that it wants to pair. We're going to just press 1 here. Join the wireless network. And so it's ready to go. We're waiting for the Lyric to do its thing. We're going to restart the process there. It's in inclusion mode. We're going to press the gear icon on this, and it should be pairing. And the device was found on the Lyric Controller, so it has been paired. We're going to press Done, and you see, it says Yale Lock. Apparently, it got assigned to node number 9. And were successful here, so we're going to go back. So one issue that you might run into-- if you're trying to exclude the lock but the lock isn't paired with a network yet, then you will find that you won't be able to exclude it. This lock is smart, and it knows whether or not it's paired with the network. So if it's not paired with a network and you're trying to exclude it, then it won't work. And I'm going to demonstrate that right here. This is not paired with a network right now, and we're going to enter in the master pin, 1234. And then we'll press the gear icon. Menu mode. Enter number. And then we enter-- Press the gear key to continue. We enter 7 to do Z-Wave Settings. Wireless Module Setting mode. And then-- Press the gear key to continue. --we press the gear key. Join the wireless network. And you see that 1 showed up, meaning that it's trying to pair with a network. We can't exclude it because it's not paired with the network. So if you're trying to exclude the lock and it's not paired with a network, you're going to see the 1, and you're going to run into problems. And so it's going to take a minute or two for the lock to sync in fully, but once it does, you'll be able to control it from the Panel. And also, if the system is monitored and you have access to Total Connect 2.0, then you'll be able to control it remotely from that platform as well. That's great for controlling the lock on your phone or a web browser, and you'll be able to include it with Smart Scenes. So that's how you pair your Yale Z-Wave lock with your Lyric Controller.
