The Honeywell LTEMXV-TC2 is a bundle that comes with a Honeywell LTEM-XV Verizon LTE Cat M1 Cellular Communicator, plus latest PROM Chips for the VISTA-15P and VISTA-20P. The kit is made for VISTA users who need both a new communicator and a PROM Chip upgrade to support Total Connect 2.0.
The minimum PROM Chip required for a VISTA-15P or VISTA-20P to support Total Connect 2.0 is 9.12. Any 15P or 20P user who wants to use the TC2 platform with their existing system will need to replace their system's current PROM Chip with one that is 9.12 or higher. The good thing about this kit is that is saves the user money versus buying the 15P PROM Chip or the 20P PROM Chip upgrade and a new communicator individually. If you want to learn more about identifying and replacing PROM Chips, please see see this FAQ. And remember, if your PROM Chip is already 9.12 or higher, then it usually isn't worth upgrading to the latest version.
We cannot stress enough just how important it is to get your Honeywell VISTA System set up with Total Connect 2.0. While it's true that the service is totally optional, it really opens up some new doors for using your alarm system in creative and convenient ways. Total Connect 2.0 allows you to access your system remotely using a web browser or an app on your phone. Once you have logged into your Total Connect 2.0 account, you can arm and disarm, check its current status, control programmed automation devices, view your integrated security cameras, and much more.
The main component of this kit is the Honeywell LTEM-XV Communicator. This is a cellular communicator that allows the connected VISTA System to communicate with the Resideo AlarmNet Servers across the Verizon LTE Cat M1 Network. This is a special branch of the Verizon LTE Network that offers superior security and signal penetration when compared with standard LTE service. Communicating with AlarmNet is an essential component of alarm monitoring service for a Honeywell Security System. And cellular connectivity is ideal due to its excellent reliability and generally fast speeds. Drops in service should be virtually nonexistent, provided that your system maintains an adequate connection with the corresponding cell tower.
One thing to keep in mind when considering a cellular communicator is that your will need a monitoring plan that includes cellular service. These cellular monitoring plans are typically more expensive than IP-only monitoring plans, but the benefit is that you get greater reliability and peace of mind in knowing that your system will not be affected by internet outages. Examples of compatible cellular monitoring plans include the Gold and Platinum Level Plans from Alarm Grid. We offer central station plans, as well as "self" plans, where all alerts are sent directly to the user via text and/or email. We encourage you to view this post to learn all about our monitoring plans.
