Description

The Interlogix 60-924-RF-TS Two-Way Talking Touch Screen serves as a secondary controller for a Simon System. The device features a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen display that makes it easy for users to control their Simon Panel and any programmed Z-Wave devices from a second area of the home or business. Up to four of these touch screens can be programmed with a single Simon alarm panel, giving users a greater number of options when designing their security setup. Overall, the touch screen keypad makes for a great addition to expand control and offer a more convenient location for viewing the status of the system in a secondary location.

Many alarm system owners want a secondary on-site device for controlling their system. For example, they might want a panel near the back door or basement for when they enter or exit the house from one of those areas. The Interlogix 60-924-RF-TS Touch Screen fulfills that requirement for end users and much more. The device provides full arming and disarming capabilities, and it allows for home automation control for those with Z-Wave devices. This makes it a great choice for larger properties where a user might not always be near the primary controller.

Right from the main screen, a user can see whether any motions have been activated and whether any doors, windows or cabinets have been opened. This is great for quickly checking the current status for the system overall. Different types of Z-Wave devices are also easy to control, with options for lights, locks and thermostat operation being readily accessible at your fingertips from multiple locations. The touch screen also offers various arming options, complete with entry delay selections and sensor bypass capabilities.

Another feature of the two-way touch screen is the ability to sync with the Alarm.com interactive service. Alarm.com provides local weather information so that a user can quickly check the current and upcoming weather right from the display screen. A user can also set different levels of access control for the device, based on whether it is in a more secure or less secure location. Finally, the touch screen offers full voice and chime just like any Simon Panel.

Please note that the Interlogix Two-Way Talking Touch Screen is not a standalone security system. It is simply a secondary controller for a Simon Alarm System that has already been installed. The device cannot be used on its own to interact directly with security sensors. Only purchase this device if you are looking for a secondary point of control for your compatible Interlogix Security System. If you are in the market for a new, all-in-one wireless alarm system we carry several options.

Note: This is an older Interlogix Simon Keypad that can work with the Simon XT, the Simon XTi, and the original Simon-XTi-5, also known as the Simon XTi-5 Version 1. It cannot work with the newer Interlogix Simon XTi-5i, which may also be referred to as the Interlogix Simon XTi-5 Version 2. More information can be found in this FAQ.

Nice Interlogix System Keypad
Submitted on 04/22/2020 Alarm Grid

The Interlogix 60-924-RF-TS is a touchscreen keypad for the Interlogix Simon Series Panels, including the Simon XT, Simon XTi, and Simon XTi-5. This external keypad serves as a secondary on-site location for operating one of these systems. You can use the keypad to arm, disarm, check current status, and perform automation commands (cellular communicator w/ Z-Wave controller required for automation). The keypad also provides voice annunciation and chime to let you know about system activity. It also displays weather information when the system is connected with Alarm.com. Overall, this is a fine keypad for Interlogix Simon Series users. It serves a very specific function, and there are really no viable alternatives. We give it a 5 Star rating.

With the Interlogix 60-924-RF-TS, you get a simple, yet effective touchscreen keypad that offers some really nice features. It has the same interface as the Simon XTi and XTi-5, which makes it very intuitive for those accustomed to wireless Interlogix Security Systems. Being able to quickly check faulted zones is a nice touch, and while the voice and chime are primitive, these sounds serve their purpose of alerting the end user to system activity.

There are not many downsides for the Interlogix 60-924-RF-TS. One issue is that it takes up one a system zone slot when programmed. Since zones on Interlogix Systems are often limited (most have a MAX of 40), you may need to plan carefully when adding this keypad. Also, there is a limit of only four (4) keypads per Interlogix System. And we should also mention that this keypad is fairly dated and will look rather old-fashioned compared with the more advanced system keypads from the late 2010s and 2020s.

While primitive, the Interlogix 60-924-RF-TS gets the job done, and there aren't really any other physical keypad alternatives. Most users will just use Alarm.com for remote operation. After all, you will usually always have your phone on your person, whether you are on-site or not. But if you want a secondary keypad for your wireless Interlogix Simon System, this is the one to get. For that reason, it earns a 5 Star rating.

Good: Arm/Disarm, Check Status, Automation, Weather Information, Talks, Chimes, Touchscreen, No Viable Alternatives

Bad: Takes Up One Zone, Primitive, Touchscreen Feels Choppy, Limit of Four (4) Per System, Old-Fashioned, For Interlogix Simon Panels Only

Bottom Line: 5 Stars
