Can I Update the Firmware On a Qolsys IQ Panel Alarm System?
Yes, you can update the firmware on a Qolsys IQ Panel Alarm System. There is a menu option that is specifically used for updating to a new firmware version. The easiest option is to update using the network. An active WIFI connection is required for the firmware update to go through.
The Qolsys IQ Panel was the first alarm system released by Qolsys. It has since been replaced by the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. As a result, it is unlikely that Qolsys will ever release another firmware version for the original IQ Panel. Fortunately, they still make it possible for users to upgrade the firmware if they have not already done so. Once you upgrade to the final firmware version, it is unlikely that you will ever need to upgrade the system firmware again.
Although the IQ Panel is not as popular as the newer IQ Panel 2, it is still a perfectly capable alarm system. If you have this system, we recommend that you upgrade to the final firmware version, as it fixes various system bugs and ensures best performance. Completing the update only takes a few minutes, and it can be done right from the panel.
The process below assumes that the IQ Panel is already connected to a WIFI network. If it isn't, connect the panel to a local WIFI network before trying to update the firmware. Complete the following steps to update the firmware on an IQ Panel:
1. Access the upgrade page. Start from the main screen of the IQ Panel. Choose settings in the lower-left corner. Then provide the Installer Code for the system. If the Installer Code is still set to its default, it will be 1111. Then choose Installation in the upper-left. Finally, choose Upgrade Software to access the upgrade page.
2. Perform the update. Select the option "Upgrade Using Network". The system will begin searching for an update. If one is available, it will ask you if you want to apply it. Choose "OK". The system will then begin the firmware update process.
3. Confirm the update. The IQ Panel System will reboot to complete the update process. When it reloads, the new update should be applied. You should check to make sure any new features work properly.
