Can I Use the DSC PowerG PG9312 With the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus?
Yes, you can use the DSC PowerG PG9312 with the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. All versions of the IQ Panel 2 Plus will support the sensor. However, the IQ Panel 2 Plus System must be running Firmware Version 2.4.0 or higher. Lower Firmware Versions will not support the PG9312 Outdoor Contact.
The DSC PG9312 is an outdoor contact sensor that is part of the DSC PowerG Series. The PowerG Sensors are known for their impressive communication range and military-grade encryption. The sensor will communicate from up to 2,000 feet away from the IQ Panel 2 Plus with direct line of sight. It uses 128-bit AES encryption to stop any hacking or takeover attempts. This also makes the sensor immune to any RF jamming attacks. It is suitable for outdoor use on fences, gates, barns, patio doors, and more.
Nearly all PowerG Sensors are compatible with the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus Systems. However, there was actually a firmware issue that made the PG9312 incompatible with the IQ Panel 2 Plus early on. Qolsys eventually fixed this issue in Firmware Version 2.4.0. Thanks to that fix, the sensor will now work with the system. But you must make sure that Firmware Version 2.4.0 or higher applied on the IQ Panel 2 Plus System. If it is not, then you will need to upgrade to a newer firmware. Thankfully, this is very easy to do.
First, if you ever need to check the firmware, you can do so from the Software Tab within the About Menu of Advanced Settings. This menu can be accessed by first clicking the small grey bar at the top of the screen. Then choose Settings > Advanced Settings > enter Installer Code (default 1111) > About > Software. If you do not know the Installer Code, then you can use your Master Code instead.
The first few digits will identify the Firmware Version, as seen in the picture below:
If you need to upgrade to a new Firmware Version, then the easiest way to do so is at the panel. We recommend checking out this blog post for more information about Firmware Version 2.4.0 and how to perform the upgrade yourself. You can auto-enroll the PG9312 after you have the proper firmware.
