Honeywell iGSMV4G vs GSMX4G

The HoneywelliGSMV4G is a dual path communicator for a Honeywell Vista series control panel.

The iGSMV4G communicates via the Internet as the first path of communication and switches to the GSM cell service if the Internet is not available. If for some reason both services are unavailable, the communicator provides a third way to communicate by sending a transmission via SMS (Short Message Service) also known as a text message.

In normal operation, the iGSMV4G communicates via a network connection to the AlarmNet and routes the information to the central station of choice.

The basic features of the iGSMV4G communicator include: allows connection for remote services, Total Connect 2.0. Access can be programmed via web or 7720P programming tool. Supports dynamic or static IP addressing, and installs behind firewalls without compromising network security. Allows uploading and downloading of control panel data over the internet.

The Honeywell GSMX4G is a GSM cell communicator for Honeywell Vista control panels.

The GSMX4G cell communicator connects to the control panel and sends alarm signals to AlarmNet for subsequent transfer to a central

monitoring station. The GSMX4G cell unit can be mounted directly on the control panel or remotely.

The new 4G connectivity brings faster GSM data transfers with lower response time, which results in faster data transfers.

If the GSMX4G cellular network is unavailable, the GSMX4G will attempt to send a transmission via SMS (Short Message Service) also known as a text message as backup communication.

The basic features of the GSMX4G are reports fire, burg, and status messages via GSM. The GSMX4G has an internal antenna which provides additional security. The GSMX4G can be programmed using the 7720P programming tool or via the AlarmNet Direct website. Sends reports in Contact ID format. Supports remote control of alarm system via Remote Services feature. Allows uploading and downloading of control panel data via GSM. The GSMX4G does not have a backup battery of it’s own. It is fully powered from the control panel and the control panel's backup battery.

The chip upgrade will bring the panel up to Revision 10.23. In order to use the Total Connect 2.0 (aka TC2) app your panel will need to Revision 9.12 or higher. You can find this info by locating the PROM chip in your VISTA cabinet. It should read, "WA20P-" the revision number. If you are 9.12 or higher you will not need the TC2 kit. If you are under that and you want the bundled savings of the PROM upgrade chip then go with the iGSMV4G-TC2 kit.
Hi, What is the difference between iGSMV4G and iGSMV4G-TC. I assume the TC comes with the upgrade chip. How do I know if I need the chip for my Vista 20p? Also, if I do need it, would iGSMV4G work without the TC upgrade chip? Thanks.
