The 2GIG SMKT3-345 is a smoke detector that also offers heat and freeze detection functions. It is designed for use with 2GIG Alarm Systems. The device is powered using three AAA batteries. For the longest battery life possible, we recommend using lithium batteries. When the batteries are low and in need of replacing, the yellow LED light will begin blinking every 12 seconds. Additionally, the sensor will chirp every 48 seconds, and the system will display a low battery trouble condition for the sensor. A user can stop the chirping by pressing the test button. However, the chirping will resume in 12 hours if the batteries are not replaced. Replacing the batteries as early as possible is very important for ensuring the proper function of the device.

Complete the following steps to change the batteries in a 2GIG SMKT3-345:

1. Open the sensor. Press the SMKT3-345 Smoke Detector up against its mounting base, and turn it counterclockwise to release it. Then pull the device away from its mounting base to open it up.

2. Remove the batteries. Carefully take the old batteries out of the device. Dispose of these batteries in a safe manner. Wait at least 20 seconds before continuing to the next step.

3. Insert the new batteries. Insert three fresh AAA batteries into the SMKT3-345. They will go in the same location as the previous batteries. Make sure to follow proper polarity when installing the batteries. That is, the positive (+) and negative (-) ends must be facing the proper directions.

4. Close the sensor. Hold the SMKT3-345 up against its mounting base. Turn the device clockwise to lock it into place. Make sure it clicks to confirm that it is secure.
