How Do I Enroll a Schlage Z-Wave Lock on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?

You can enroll a Schlage Z-Wave lock on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5 by first clearing the lock from the network. Then put the panel in its Z-Wave inclusion mode, and activate the inclusion function on the lock to learn it in. The panel will need a Z-Wave controller to support the lock.

Complete the following steps to enroll a Sclage Z-Wave lock on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5:

1. Access system programming. From the main screen of the Simon XTi or XTi-5 system, click the gear icon in the lower-right corner of the screen. Then scroll down to Programming, and click "Enter". Then enter in the Installer Code for the system. This code is set to 4321 by default. After entering in the code, press the "OK" button. You will enter system programming.

2. Clear the lock. It is always a good idea to first clear a Z-Wave device, as it may have been previously included with a Z-Wave network as part of factory testing. To do this, choose the "Interactive Services" option, followed by "Z-Wave", and then "Remove Device". The panel will display the message "Press button on device to remove...". Activate the inclusion function on the lock to remove it from the network. The inclusion function is activated in different ways on different devices. Some locks will have an inclusion button, while other devices may require you to enter in a specific code. Check your lock's user manual for more information. You may need to bring the lock close to the panel in order for the command to go through. Once the lock is recognized, the message "Device deleted" will be displayed on the screen. You can then press the "Close" button in the upper-right corner of the screen.

3. Enroll the lock. Choose "Add Device". The system will display "Press button on device to add...". This indicates that the system is in Z-Wave inclusion mode. Then activate the inclusion function on the Z-Wave lock using the same process that was outlined in step 2. Again, you may need to bring the Z-Wave lock close to the panel in order for the command to go through. The system will display when the device has been added, and a device number will be provided. You may want to remember this device number for future reference. You can then click the "Close" button in the upper-right corner of the screen.

4. Test the lock. After enrolling the lock, you should test it to make sure that it is functioning properly. With the lock installed, make sure that you can lock and unlock the door using Z-Wave communication. You can send signals to the lock using the XTi or XTi-5 panel itself or using the Alarm.com service. If the lock can be successfully locked and unlocked, then it was programmed correctly.
