How Do I Enroll a Z-Wave Lock to My DSC Impassa?

You can enroll a Z-Wave lock to your DSC Impassa by clearing the lock from the network, putting the system into its Z-Wave inclusion mode and activating the inclusion function on the lock to learn it in. The DSC Impassa will need an Alarm.com cellular communicator to support Z-Wave devices.

This will require that the user has an appropriate alarm monitoring plan. Please note that the DSC Impassa does not allow for local control of Z-Wave devices and all operation will need to take place through Alarm.com. Complete the following steps to to enroll a Z-Wave lock to your DSC Impassa:

1. Access Z-Wave setup. Start from the main screen of the DSC Impassa. Make sure the system is disarmed. Enter [*] [6] [Master Code]. The default Master code is 1234. Then use the arrow keys to find the "Z-Wave Setup" option, and press the [*] key to continue. The system will enter its Z-Wave setup menu.

2. Clear the lock. It is always important to clear a Z-Wave smart home device before attempting to add it to a network. Then activate the inclusion function on the lock to clear it from the network. The lock may have an inclusion button for this purpose, or a specific code may need to be entered on the lock. Check the lock's installation manual for more information. You may need to bring the lock close to the panel when doing this. The Impassa System should display a message when the lock has been cleared.

3. Enroll the lock. Use the arrow keys to find the "Add Z-Wave Device" option, and press the [*] key to continue. The system will enter its Z-Wave enrollment mode. Then activate the inclusion function on the lock. The is the same function that was used in Step 2 when clearing the lock from the network. Again, you may need to bring the lock physically close to the panel in order for the signal to go through successfully. The panel will display a message once the lock has been added successfully. You will then be able to control the lock through Alarm.com.

4. Exit to main screen. Repeatedly press the [#] key on the DSC Impassa to exit the Z-Wave menu and return to the main screen. Any changes that were made will be saved automatically.
