How Do I Remove a Z-Wave Device from an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?
You can remove a Z-Wave device from an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5 by putting the system into its Z-Wave exclusion mode and then activating the inclusion function on the Z-Wave device. This will clear the device from the Z-Wave network so that it can be enrolled with a new system.
It is always recommended to first clear a Z-Wave device before attempting to learn it in with the Z-Wave network. Even brand-new Z-Wave devices are often enrolled with a network before they even leave the factory. Clearing the device first will ensure that it can properly learn-in with the Simon XTi or XTi-5 System.
Also remember that a Z-Wave controller is needed to use Z-Wave devices with the Simon XTi and XTi-5 Systems. For these panels, a cellular communicator with an integrated Z-Wave controller will provide Z-Wave compatibility.
Complete the following steps to remove a Z-Wave device from an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5:
1. Enter programming. Start from the home screen of the Simon XTi or XTi-5. Press the gear icon in the lower-right corner of the screen. Then press the down arrow on the right side of the screen until you see "Programming". Click the "Enter" button. Then enter the four-digit Installer Code for the system. This code is set to 4321 by default. Press the "OK" button, after entering the code. You will then enter into system programming.
2. Activate Z-Wave exclusion mode. Choose "Interactive Services", then "Z-Wave", and then "Remove Device". The system will enter into Z-Wave exclusion mode. The message "Press button on device to remove..." will be displayed on the screen.
3. Remove the device. Activate the inclusion function on the Z-Wave device. This process will vary between different Z-Wave devices. Some Z-Wave devices will have a button for this purpose, while others may require a specific code to be entered on the device. Check the device manual for more information. You may need to bring the Z-Wave device close to the panel in order to complete the process. Once successful, the message "Device deleted." will be displayed.
4. Exit programming. Keep pressing the "Close" button in the upper-right corner until you are returned to the home screen. Any programming changes that were made will automatically be saved.
