How Do I Set Up Automation on My DSC Impassa?

You can set up automation on your DSC Impassa by adding smart home devices to the system. This will allow them to be controlled through the Alarm.com interactive service. The panel will need to have an active Alarm.com cellular communicator and be set up with Alarm.com for this to work.

The cellular communicator for a DSC impassa also doubles as a Z-Wave controller. Once the cellular communicator is active and the system is set up with Alarm.com, a user can add Z-Wave smart home devices to the system. The devices can then be controlled through Alarm.com, either through the website or remotely using the Alarm.com Mobile App.

The process outlined below assumes that the DSC Impassa System has an active cellular communicator and has been set up with Alarm.com. Complete the following steps to add a Z-Wave device to the DSC Impassa:

1. Access Z-Wave setup. Start from the main screen of the DSC Impassa with the system disarmed. Enter in the command [*] [6] [Master Code]. The default Master Code for the system is 1234. Use the arrow keys (> & <) to scroll to "Interactive Serv" and press the * key. Scroll to "Z-Wave Setup", and press the * key. You will now be in Z-Wave setup.

2. Clear the device. All Z-Wave devices should be cleared before attempting to add them to a Z-Wave network. This will help ensure that they can learn-in properly. Scroll to "Remove Z-Wave Device", and press the * key. This will put the panel into its clearing mode. Then activate the inclusion function on the Z-Wave device to clear it from the network. Most Z-Wave devices have a button for this purpose. See the user manual for the Z-Wave device for more information on activating its inclusion function. You may need to bring the Z-Wave device close to the panel for the command to go through. The panel will display a message indicating that a device has been removed from the network.

3. Add the device. Scroll to "Add Z-Wave Device", and press the * key. This will put the panel into its Z-Wave inclusion mode. Activate the inclusion function on the Z-Wave device in the same way that was conducted in Step 2. Again, the Z-Wave device may need to be brought close to the panel. The panel should display a message stating that a device has been added to the network.

4. Exit the menu. Keep pressing the # key on the DSC Impassa until you return to the home screen. Any changes that were made will be automatically saved.
