How Do I Turn Off The Backlight On An L3000?

The backlight on the Honeywell L3000 (Lynx Plus) cannot be permanently disabled but can be programmed to turn off after inactivity.

To turn the backlighting off after inactivity, enter programming mode by keying in the installer code (the Honeywell factory default installer code is 4112) followed by 800, without pausing between numbers. The L3000 will display “Entering Programming Mode”. Once in the Program Modem the data field will display “20 Installer Code” (this is the first data field in the system. Press the star (*) followed by 22 (keypad backlight). This option allows users to program the choice of either always having the backlighting of the keypad on or turning the backlighting off after 10 seconds of keypad inactivity. Select 1 = turn backlighting off after inactivity, 0 = no timeout, to have the backlight always on. Once a selection has been made, enter the star (*) key followed by 99 to exit the programming mode. After exiting the programming mode, the L3000 takes up to one minute to reset.

If the Honeywell factory default installer code 4112 has been changed and does not allow to enter programming try this alternative method. Power down the L3000 by removing the battery and unplugging the transformer from the wall outlet. Repower up the L3000 by plugging in the transformer back into the wall outlet and reconnect the battery. Within 50 seconds of the L3000 powered back up, press both the star (*) and the pound (#) keys at the same time and hold for a few seconds. The L3000 should then display “Entering Programming Mode”. Once the “20 Installer Code” appears, enter 4112. Press the star (*) followed by 22. Select 1=turn backlighting off after 10 seconds of keypad inactivity or 0 = no timeout, to have the backlight always on.

For further programming options, please refer to the L3000 install manual.
