How Long Does a Siren Sound on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?
The length of time a siren will sound on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5 System is determined by the system's siren timeout period. If set, once the siren timeout period expires, the system siren will automatically stop sounding. The siren timeout period can be set from 2 to 254 minutes.
Whenever the siren activates on a Simon XTi or XTi-5 System, there are only three ways for it to be shut off. The first is to disarm the system using a valid user code. The second is to power down the system by unplugging its transformer and disconnecting the backup battery. The third is to let the siren timeout period expire.
The siren timeout period can be adjusted from system programming. It can be set from anywhere between 2 minutes to 254 minutes. The siren timeout can also be disabled by setting it to "Off". This will have the siren sound indefinitely until either the system is disarmed or power is cut to the system. The system Installer Code is needed to access this setting.
Complete the following steps to adjust the siren timeout on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5 System:
1. Access programming. Start from the panel's home screen. Click the gear icon in the lower-right corner. Scroll down to Programming, and click "Enter". Then enter in the system's Installer Code (the default is 4321). Then click "OK". You will enter system programming.
2. Adjust siren timeout. Choose the "Timers" option. Then locate the option for "Siren Timeout". Enter this sub-menu option, and provide the time (in minutes) for the siren timeout. The value can be set from anywhere between 2 and 254 minutes. It can also be set to "Off" to disable the siren timeout for the system. Confirm your selection by pressing "Save".
3. Exit programming. Keep pressing the "Close" button in the upper-right corner of the screen until you are returned to the home screen.
