What App Can I Use w/ My IQ Panel 2 Plus If I Don't Want to Buy Service?

There is no app you can use with your IQ Panel 2 Plus if you don't want to buy service. The Alarm.com App that is used to control the system remotely can only be accessed if you have an alarm monitoring plan. Without alarm monitoring, you can only use the IQ Panel 2 Plus as a local sounder.

The only mobile app that can be used with a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus to control the system remotely is the Alarm.com Mobile App. This app allows you to arm and disarm your system, check its current status, control Z-Wave smart home devices, view Alarm.com Security Cameras, and more. You don't need to add any hardware to the system to connect it with the Alarm.com Servers. This is because the system comes with a built-in WIFI card and a built-in LTE cellular communicator for accessing Alarm.com and receiving monitoring service.

However, you will need an active alarm monitoring plan to use the system with Alarm.com. Since Alarm.com requires the use of a cellular communicator, your alarm monitoring plan must include cellular service. You cannot use Alarm.com on an IP-only plan. Alarm Grid customers will need a Gold Level Plan or a Platinum Level Plan to use a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus with Alarm.com and unlock all of the great features that Alarm.com offers. Although you can also use a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus for monitoring with a Cellular-Only Plan, that plan will not give you access to the Alarm.com Mobile App. If you want to use the Alarm.com Mobile App, you need a Gold or Platinum Plan. We encourage you to check out our alarm monitoring page for more information.

If you do not have a monitoring plan for your Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus, then you will have no way to control the system remotely. The only way you will be able to use your IQ Panel 2 Plus is as a local sounder. This means that you can still arm and disarm the system, and the panel will still emit a siren during alarm events. This can be be useful for letting anyone on-site know about a break-in, a fire, or an outbreak of carbon monoxide gas. You can also use the panel for local Z-Wave control. However, the panel will have no way of reporting out alarms. This means that if nobody is on-site to hear the alarm, then no one will know about the emergency. Additionally, while you can still control your Z-Wave devices from the panel, you will have no way to control these devices remotely. You will also not be able to use them with smart scenes for automatic operation based on a schedule or with certain system events.
