What Is The Best Touchscreen Home Security System?

Honeywell offers four choices in touchscreen home security systems. The Lynx Touch L5200, the Lynx Touch L7000 and a Vista control panel when paired with a 6280 graphic touchscreen keypad or a Tuxedo Touch WiFi controller.

The Lynx Touch L5200 is a wireless self contained control panel that has a built in siren and a 4.7 inch graphic touchscreen. The L5200 supports Zwave for home automation, users can control up to 3 thermostats, 4 door locks, up to 40 light switches and 3 garage doors. The zwave module sits right inside the panel. The L5200 supports AlarmNet communicators via WiFi and GSM cell communicators which also sit directly inside the control panel. The L5200 also supports internet communication via a ILP5 internet communicator. The L5200 allows users to view 1 camera directly on the touchscreen.The L5200 control panel provides 1 hardwired zone, 64 wireless zones and 16 keyfob zones. The L5200 supports up to 6 temperature zones (water and temp).

The Lynx Touch L7000 is also a wireless self contained control panel with a built in siren but has a 7 inch graphic touchscreen. The L7000 supports Zwave for home automation and users can control up to 4 thermostats, 6 door locks, up to 40 light switches and up to 4 garage doors. The L7000 also supports AlarmNet communicators via WiFi and GSM communicators. All three modules install directly inside the control panel. The L7000 also supports internet communication via the ILP5 Internet Communicator. The L7000 allows users to view up to 4 cameras at a time directly on the touchscreen. The L7000 provides 1 hardwired zone, 80 wireless zones and 24 keyfob zones. The L7000 supports up to 8 temperature zones (water and temp).

The Honeywell 6280 keypad is compatible with the Honeywell Vista series control panels. The 6280 keypad features a 7 inch color graphic voice touch screen that doubles as a digital picture frame. The 6280 keypad comes in silver, black and white and six language options, and voice annunciation of alarm conditions The 6280 keypad has a message center which users can record and playback messages in English only. The 6280 keypad does not support zwave.

The Honeywell Tuxedo Touch WiFi controller is a 7 inch graphic touch screen compatible with the Honeywell Vista series control panels as a secondary keypad. The Tuxedo Touch WiFi can be a stand alone zwave controller that integrates a security system, and camera viewer. The Tuxedo Touch WiFi controller supports up to 232 Z-Wave devices and can connect up to 32 IP cameras and view up to four cameras directly on the Tuxedo Touch touch screen. The Tuxedo Touch WiFi has a message center which allows users to record and playback messages. The Tuxedo Touch WiFi allows users to control system devices and actions by specific voice commands.
