Wired Zone Expansion Modules

Wired zone expansion modules let you increase the number of hardwired zones for your wired security system. This is important if you plan on using a large number of zones with your system. Many panels will require multiple expansion modules to achieve the desired results. Buy expansion modules here.

Wired zone expansion modules are very commonly used with hardwired security systems. These hardwired panels only have a finite number of zones built into their circuit boards. If you run out of zones and need just a few more, you might try zone doubling. But if you really want to unlock your system's true potential and establish a large number of zones, then wired zone expansion modules are a must-have. The number of added zones from a wired zone expansion module can vary between different devices. Check the specifications for the wired zone expansion module you are interested in purchasing to find out how many hardwired zones it adds.

There are many varieties of wired zone expansion modules. You must make sure the module you purchase is compatible with your system. For example a hardwired Honeywell VISTA System will likely use a different wired zone expansion module than a hardwired DSC PowerSeries NEO Panel. Additionally, some expansion modules may be specifically configured for polling loop panels. Others may be configured for residential panels. Again, make sure to check the specifications before purchasing. Using an incompatible wired zone expansion module is a waste of both time and money.

Please note that it is impossible to add an infinite number of hardwired zones using an indefinite number of wired zone expansion modules. Each panel can only support a finite number of zones. This depends on the capabilities of the panel. At some point, adding additional expansion modules will not do any good. Check the specifications for your panel to determine how many zones can be supported and how many expansion modules you can add. You might also consider adding a wireless receiver so that you can use wireless sensors as well. While you can certainly use a fully wired setup, wireless sensors are easier to install. There may also be some sensor types that are only available in wireless varieties.

Since these are hardwired devices, wired zone expansion modules will need to be wired to the panel. Our website has handy guides that can help you add these modules to your system. You may also find instructional videos to assist you with the process. If you are an Alarm Grid monitored customer, you can receive free online and phone support to assist you with the installation process. This can be very helpful if you have never set one up before. Please note that this support is only available for monitored customers. You should check our alarm monitoring page to learn more about our monitoring services. Remember, you will also need to purchase the appropriate wiring to connect these devices with the alarm panel.
