Can I connect my iPhone to a 2Gig GoControl?
Yes! There are several ways to setup remote access from your smartphone (yes, androids too!) to your 2GIG Go!Control security system. First, you must acquire a communicator that will transmit and receive signals between the GoControl panel and a server that supports interactive services. The most popular service is offered by Alarm.com due to their industry-leading software. If you are interested in enrolling in services with Alarm.com you can choose between the Verizon-based GCCDMV-A or the GC3GA-A which relies on the AT&T cellular network. There is also a Rogers network based cellular module for Canadian GoControl owners: GC3GR-A.
There is an app called "Mobile Tech" offered for free in the App store. After downloading this app, it will allow you to test the cellular signal in your home or business. From this reading it will recommend the Verizon or AT&T radio. After the cellular radio is installed in the panel an Alarm.com dealer will need to activate the service. Pricing will vary amongst dealers. We offer no contract Alarm.com plans with free tech support and remote programming!
The Alarm.com services will allow you to arm, disarm, bypass zones, view live status and much more. The real value of this service is the customizable text and email alerts. There also push notifications directly from the app. Alarm.com updates the application interface weekly which means they will remain on the leading edge of security technologies. In fact, they offer a new geo-fencing technology that uses the GPS on your smartphone to adjust the energy-saving features of any enrolled Z-Wave devices.
For those not familiar with the GoControl's automation controller there is a factory equipped Z-Wave controller that supports up to 232 devices. This means that you can configure settings to adjust lights, locks and thermostats based on your GPS position without any other manual or system operation triggers. Yes, this is the future of security and Alarm.com is leading the way.
