Can I Use an iGSMV4G Communicator Without Internet?

The Honeywell iGSMV4G is an AlarmNet dual path communicator that has both an internet communicator and a 4G cellular communicator (will use 2G, 3G when necessary).

While the communicator is designed to use the IP communicator as the primary path, it will still function without an internet connection. If, for some reason, you can't connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the internet port, the iGSMV4G will report a primary communication path failure once it's registered but it will work just fine from there on the cellular path only.

If you plan to add an internet connection in the future, simply connect the Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 jack and reboot the router then the panel. If you are unable to get a CAT-5 cable between the router/WAP and the panel, you may purchase a wired to wireless adapter or wireless gaming adapter. These devices replace a wired Ethernet connection with a wireless connection. They aren't as reliable as a wired connection, but since you have the backup cellular path anyways, it's better than not using the IP path at all. Just make sure that the unit you get has a RJ-45 connection and not a USB connection.
