Can I use a Honeywell L5100 w/o Total Connect?

The Honeywell Lynx Touch L5100 is an impressive AUI (advanced user interface) and has some great interactive features thanks to its Honeywell Total Connect 2.0 support. But can you use the Honeywell Lynx Touch L5100 without Total Connect?

Absolutely! We think Total Connect is one of the coolest things to come around in the alarm industry. But if you don't need all the interactive features, we still think the L5100 without Total Connect is a great option.

Without Total Connect, the Honeywell L5100 can still function as a local system. It can even still be hooked up to a central monitoring station via the built-in phone dialer or you can add an AlarmNet internet or cellular communicator.

The main thing you'll be missing without Total Connect are all the cool interactive features the L5100 can offer. For example, you won't receiver Total Connect notifications via text or email. Nor will you be able to remotely arm and disarm your system or control your home automation when away.

The L5100 is still a great control panel even without those interactive features. It has a compact design that houses both your panel and keypad in one and its easy configuration via the touch screen make it a DIY dream.

So fret not, your Honeywell Lynx Touch L5100 will function without Total Connect. You just won't be able to take full advantage of it.

You can access a Tuxedo Touch through the web server but it will not proactively send out messages like Total Connect would.
The Tuxedo is a hardwired keypad for a VISTA control panel. It has an integrated Z-Wave controller and it's a web server. The LYNX Touch is an all-in-one system with a touchscreen and it has the ability to do Z-Wave once you add the L5100-ZWAVE module. You cannot combine a Tuxedo Touch with a LYNX Touch.
Does the Tuxedo replace the vista key bosard or do you have to run both do you no if honeywell plans on upgrading to wifi smart like there thermo stats the link is not as nice as some of the touch creen home control panels all in one like Vivnint has or combing the lynk and tuxedo for a more apealing all in one system.
Ive read you can assign the tuxedo touch its own ip adress still get text alerts with out total connect as long as you have a vista
Hi Mike, To control the Z-Wave devices through Total Connect, you would need to upgrade to the Remote Home Automation feature for an additional $10/month. However, there is a different app available that allows you to control the system (including Z-Wave) while you are on the same network as the system. Please call us to discuss.
I have a basic total connect account .. with alarm grid .. can I use the automation features inside the house via my phone or I have to pay the extra ten dollars a month to control zwave devices. ..
Yes Jon, if you add the L5100-ZWAVE module (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-l5100-zwave) to the L5100, you would be able to use the system as a Z-Wave controller without needing to sign up for the Total Connect service. Of course, if you wanted to remotely control your Z-Wave devices, Total Connect is a great option.
can i use the lynx l5100 as a full zwave controller without total connect
