How Do I Add a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 to My Local WIFI?
You can add a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 to your local WIFI by accessing the advanced settings menu and choosing the WIFI option. Make sure that WIFI is enabled, and choose the appropriate WIFI network. You will need to provide the password for the WIFI network in order for the system to connect.
It is important to note that WIFI connectivity will not allow the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 to access Alarm.com. This can only be done with a cellular connection. The IQ Panel 2 comes with a cellular module built into the system. However, an alarm monitoring plan with cellular service is required to activate this module. Most users of the IQ Panel 2 use WIFI as the primary connection and cellular as the backup.
Complete the following steps to add a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 to a WIFI network:
1. Access WIFI settings. Start from the main screen of the IQ Panel 2. Press the small grey bar at the top of the screen. Choose Settings, then Advanced Settings. Enter in the system's Master Code. This is the same code that is primarily used for arming and disarming. It is set to 1234 by default, but most users change this code. After entering in the code, you will be taken to the Advanced Settings menu. Choose WIFI. This will take you into WIFI settings.
2. Connect to a network. First, make sure the small box underneath the envelope in the upper-right corner of the screen is checked. If this box is not checked, then WIFI is disabled for this system. This box must be checked in order to enable WIFI for the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. With WIFI active, you will be able to choose a WIFI network.
Scroll through the list of available WIFI networks, and find the network that you want to connect to. Click on the desired network. You will then be prompted to enter in the password for the network. You can often find the password on the WIFI router. Once you have entered in the password, press the "Connect" button. The IQ Panel 2 will then connect to the network.
3. Exit the menu. The word "Connected" will be displayed underneath the WIFI network if the system has connected successfully. You can then press the picture of the house at the bottom of the screen to exit the menu and return to the home screen.
