How Do I Add an FF100-345 Audio Detector to the GC Touch?

To add an FF100-345 audio detector to the GC Touch, go to Settings, enter the Installer Code, and touch Sensor Settings, then select an empty zone and touch Quick Add or Manual Add. Once the panel finds the detector, choose its SKU or Device ID, assign a name, and touch Save to finish.

What the FF100-345 Does

The 2GIG GC Touch (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions) supports the FF100-345, a wireless audio detector that listens for the sound of an existing smoke alarm or carbon monoxide alarm and reports it to the panel. It doesn't sense smoke or gas itself. Instead, it hears the alarm tones from standalone detectors nearby, which lets those detectors trigger the panel without being replaced or wired in. It communicates with the panel on the 345MHz frequency and enrolls as its own zone in Sensor Settings, a menu limited to Installer Users.

Because it is a life safety device, the FF100-345 is enrolled with Device Type set to General Device, which the panel uses for all security and life safety devices. Once the SKU or Device ID is selected, the panel fills in the Loop Type and Group for the detector, and the Group can still be changed if needed. A fire-type Group such as 24-Hour Fire keeps the zone active day and night in every arming mode, and it can't be bypassed.

How to Add the FF100-345 Audio Detector

  1. Disarm the system. The GC Touch blocks entry to Settings while armed, so confirm the home screen shows a Disarmed status before continuing.
  2. Tap Settings. The gear icon sits in the top-right corner of the home screen and opens the main settings menu.

Tap the gear icon in the top-right corner of the home screen to open Settings.

  1. Enter the Installer Code. Type 1561, the default Installer Code, to unlock the full Installer Settings menu, including Sensor Settings.
  2. Tap Sensor Settings. This option appears among the Installer Settings icons and opens a two-panel screen listing all 128 zones on the left.

  1. Select an empty zone. Zones without an enrolled device are labeled (Empty). Tapping one displays the Manual Add and Quick Add options on the right panel.

  1. Touch Quick Add or Manual Add. With Quick Add, press the test button on the FF100-345 to send a signal; the panel scans and lists the detected TXID for selection, then tap Next. With Manual Add, choose General Device as the Device Type, select Unencrypted Sensor as the Sensor Class, then tap Learn or type the TXID directly.

Manual Add lets an installer set the Device Type, Sensor Class, TXID, and SKU manually.

  1. Choose the SKU, confirm the Group, name the zone, and touch Save. Select the FF100-345 from the SKU/Device ID list so the panel fills in the Loop Type and Group, confirm the Group is a fire-type setting, then type a zone name and tap Save to enroll the detector.

Managing the FF100-345 After It's Added

An FF100-345 that's already enrolled can be edited, renamed, or reassigned to a different Group type from the same Sensor Settings menu it was added through, without needing to remove and re-add the whole zone. If the detector is being moved to listen to a different smoke or CO alarm, tapping Reset while the zone is selected removes it from that zone so it can be re-enrolled once repositioned.

If the FF100-345 Isn't Being Detected

If Quick Add doesn't find the detector, confirm the battery is installed and press the test button again within range of the panel, since the panel only lists a TXID once it hears a signal. Try moving the detector closer to the panel or away from metal surfaces and large appliances, which can weaken the 345MHz signal before it reaches the panel. If the detector enrolls but doesn't react when a smoke or CO alarm sounds, check that it is mounted close enough to hear that alarm clearly, since walls, closed doors, and background noise can muffle the tone before it reaches the detector. If Manual Add is used instead, double check that the TXID was typed correctly, since even one incorrect digit will prevent the zone from ever triggering.

Why the FF100-345 Is Worth Considering

An audio detector extends monitoring to smoke and CO alarms that aren't wired or wirelessly linked to the panel. It's a practical option when existing detectors are hardwired, interconnected, or difficult to replace, since the FF100-345 simply listens for their alarm and passes it along as part of a home security system. Because it's a battery-powered 345MHz device, it installs without running any wires, and it keeps the zone active whether the system is armed or disarmed.

Adding an FF100-345 audio detector to the 2GIG GC Touch lets your existing smoke and CO alarms report to the panel when they sound.
