How Do I Change My Vivint Master Code?

You can change your Vivint master code by identifying the panel you have and then following the appropriate process for that system. The exact process for changing the master code will vary depending on the panel. Most panels will require you to know the current master code to change it.

Vivint installs 2GIG GC2 panels, as well as its proprietary lineup of Sky panels. If you have a 2GIG GC2 from Vivint, we can walk you through the process of changing the master code. Unfortunately, Sky panels are exclusive to Vivint, and we do not have any information about changing the master code on these panels. Therefore, you will need to either switch your Sky panel with a new system or contact Vivint to learn how to change the master code on your system.

Complete the following steps to change the master code on a 2GIG GC2 panel:

1. Access user management. From the home screen of the 2GIG GC2, go to Security > Menu > Toolbox > enter the current master code (the default code is 1111) > User Management. You will now be in the user management menu.

2. Change the master code. The master user should be listed as the first user at the top of the user list. Select the master user to continue. On the next screen, select "change pin". You will be prompted to enter a desired 4-digit code that will be used as the new master code. Once you have entered the code, click on "ok" in the bottom right corner of the screen.

You will then be required to re-enter the new code to confirm it. Enter the same 4-digit code, and then click "ok". If successful, the screen will display that the code has been changed.

3. Test the code. Press the picture of the house on the front of the panel to return to the home screen. Then attempt to arm and disarm the panel using the new master code. If the arming and disarming process is successful, then the new code is functioning properly.
