How Do I Program A Duress Code To My 2Gig GoControl?
The user management toolbox is used to program a duress code on a 2Gig GoControl alarm panel.
To access the user management toolbox, press the security button on the home screen. Then press menu and select toolbox.
Enter the master user code on the displayed touchscreen keypad. If the master user code is unknown, 2Gig's default master user code is 1111.
Select User Management. Be sure to always use user code #8 for the duress code. Enter a 4 digit duress code, making sure it is not an existing code or the installer's code. When selecting the 4 digit duress code make it something that is easy to remember in stressful situations.
When the duress code is used, the alarm system will arm / disarm as usual but will send a silent duress signal to the central monitoring station. When a duress signal is received by the monitoring station, trained operators will dispatch authorities immediately without calling the customer first.
A 2Gig key fob can also be programmed to send a duress signal. There is an asterisk button that can be programmed either for a silent or an audible panic alarm. When pressed it will send a duress signal to the monitoring company.
The duress code should only be used in life threatening situations and will only work if connected to a monitoring station.
The 2Gig GoControl alarm panel supports up to 32 user codes including the duress code.
User one is the master code which has the authority to add or delete the other user codes.
The installer code must be different from any other code and is the only code that has the authority to do any system programming. The 2Gig GoControl's default installer code is 1561. The installer code cannot disarm the alarm system if armed by another user code.
