How Do I Reset the Master Code on a Resideo PROA7C Security System?

You can reset the Master Code on a Resideo PROA7C Security System by manually changing the code in the User Management Menu or by factory defaulting the system to reset the code. Note that the default Master Code for a PROA7C System is 1234. It is usually changed for security purposes.

The Master Code is the primary system code for arming and disarming. If you manually change the Master Code back to its 1234 default, then nothing else will be changed. Although there is a Users Menu in Installer Programming, you will ultimately be asked for the current Master Code before the system will allow you to change the existing Master Code. The only way to reset the Master Code back to 1234 without knowing the current Master Code is to use the Installer Code to factory default the entire system. If you factory default the system, then all programmed zones will be deleted, and all added user codes will be deleted, the Installer Code will be reset to 4112, the Master Code will be reset to 1234, and all other system settings will be reverted back to their factory default values.

Please note that keeping the Master Code at its default of 1234 is not recommended. An intruder can very easily guess this default code and gain full access to the premises. The only time you may want to revert the Master Code to its default is if you are leaving behind the system for a new user to program. The new owner can use the default Maser Code to change the Master Code to something more secure after they take control of the system. But you should not leave the Master Code at 1234 if you are expecting the system to keep your property secured.

Complete the following steps to manually change the Master Code back to its 1234 default:

1. Access User Management. Begin from the main screen of the Resideo PROA7C. Click the three (3) horizontal bars button at the bottom. Scroll down to the Settings option, and select it. Then choose User Management. Provide the system's current Master Code or the Installer Code to access the menu. You will enter into the User Management Menu.

2. Change the Master Code. Click on the Master User in the user's list. Find the field for Pin. Click on the pencil icon on the right side of the Pin field. Enter the default Master Code of 1234. Then confirm that code by entering it again.

3. Save the change. Press the black Save button in the upper-right corner. You will be asked to provide the system's current Master Code as confirmation. Enter the current Master Code in the keypad that appears. You cannot use the Installer Code in this spot, only the Master Code can be used to confirm the change.

4. Return home. Press the shield with the slash running through it in the bottom-right corner of the screen to return to the home screen.

Complete the following steps to factory default the Resideo PROA7C using the Installer Code to, among other things, reset the Master Code back to 1234:

1. Enter into Installer Tools. Begin from the main screen for the PROA7C. Click the three (3) horizontal bars menu button at the bottom of the screen. Scroll down to Tools, and select that option. Enter in the system's Installer Code (default 4112). You will enter the Installer Tools Menu.

2. Perform the factory default. In the Installer Tools Menu, choose the option for Default Options. In the Default Options Menu, choose Factory Default. The system will ask you if you are sure. Click the black default option on the right. The factory default will be performed. Please note that it may take a few moments to complete.

3. Return home. After the default has been performed, if you see a shield with a slash passing through it in the bottom-right corner, then you can press it to return home. If you do not see a shield in the bottom-right corner, then just repeatedly press the return arrow on the left-hand side of the screen until you reach the home screen.
