How Do I Set Up Critical Alerts on iOS?

Enabling App Critical Alerts allows critical notifications to be delivered when the iOS device is in Do Not Disturb mode. To enable, log into the app, tap More (≡) > Notifications > Critical Alerts. This takes you to iOS settings. Tap Notifications, and toggle Critical Alerts on.

It's helpful to know what considers to be a Critical Alert. Below is a full list of the notifications that will be delivered during Do Not Disturb mode when Critical Alerts are enabled.

Critical Alerts:

  • Alarm
  • Fire Alarm
  • Auxiliary Panic
  • Police Panic
  • Carbon Monoxide Alarm
  • Fire Panic
  • Flood or Extreme Temperature Alarm
  • Keypad Tamper Alarm
  • Tamper Alarm
  • Water Alarm
  • Entry Delay Trouble
  • Suspected Entry Delay Alarm
  • Suspected Alarm
  • Receiver Jammed Alarm
  • In-App Fire Panic
  • In-App Police Panic
  • In-App Auxiliary Panic
  • Gunshot Detected (Simulated and Live)

When it comes to Critical Alerts, currently it's all or none. You can't pick and choose which of these alerts will come through while your device is in DND mode, and which do not. That could change in the future, though.

Enabling Critical Alerts for in an iOS Device:

  1. Log into the App. This can only be set up using the app, and these instructions only apply to iOS devices. Android users can override Do Not Disturb within the app's notification settings.

  2. Navigate to settings. From the main app screen, tap More (≡) > Notifications > Critical Alerts will indicate that the feature is disabled. Tap the > icon next to this entry and you will be taken to the iOS Settings screen for the App.

Side Note: You can enable Critical Alerts through iOS Settings without logging into the app. Just go into Settings > Notifications > Navigate to the App > Notifications > Critical Alerts (toggle it on).

  3. Enable Critical Alerts. Once in iOS Settings for the app, tap on Notifications. You'll see the toggle for Critical Alerts. Toggle it to the ON position. The change will be saved automatically. You can now tap in the upper left corner to return to the app.
