How Do I Use the August Smart Lock Pro with Total Connect 2.0?

You can use the August Smart Lock Pro with Total Connect 2.0 through Z-Wave and through WIFI. Only one communication path is needed, or you can use both. To use Z-Wave, you must pair the lock with the panel associated with your TC2 account. WIFI requires an August Connect WIFI Bridge.

If you pair your lock with your panel's Z-Wave network, then the lock should automatically appear in the Automation Menu of your Total Connect 2.0 account the next time you login. We actually have another FAQ that shows users how to add the August Smart Lock Pro to a Z-Wave network. You can view that FAQ here.

WIFI pairing is also fairly simple. You must have an August Connect WIFI Bridge to do this. You can then use the lock with Total Connect 2.0. Complete the following steps to use the August Smart Lock Pro with Total Connect 2.0 through WIFI:

1. Connect lock to WIFI. Connect your lock to a WIFI network. You will need the August Connect WIFI Bridge to do this. This complete step is covered in this helpful FAQ. Continue to Step 2 once your August Smart Lock Pro is connected to WIFI.

2. Login to TC2. Access the Total Connect 2.0 website, and login to your Total Connect 2.0 account. If you do not already have a TC2 account, then talk to your alarm monitoring company about gaining access to the service. You will need an alarm monitoring plan that includes access.

3. Pair the lock. From the main menu of your TC2 account, choose Automation on the left.

Press the Manage Devices button in the upper-right.

Choose August.

Press Sign Into August.

Login to your August account. If you forgot your password, you will need to use the August Home App on an Android or iOS device to reset it. Once you have logged-in, you should receive a text message for verification. Check your phone, and enter the code. Click the orange Verify button to continue.

Click Agree to continue.

The pairing process should complete. If you get a message stating "Invalid Access Token", you may need to have your Android or iOS device out of Bluetooth range of the lock. Your device should automatically switch to WIFI mode when you try to control the lock from out of Bluetooth range. After successful pairing, you should leave the Automation page on Total Connect 2.0. Then return to the Automation Page. You will be asked if you want to enable notifications for the lock. You will see the lock in the automation menu. In our example, it is called "test lock".
