Which Deadbolt Locks Work with the 2GIG GC Touch Panel?
The 2GIG GC Touch works with Z-Wave compatible deadbolt locks. Popular brands include Kwikset, Yale, and Schlage, which offer various Z-Wave enabled models. Once paired, you can easily lock and unlock doors directly from the panel's touchscreen or remotely using the Alarm.com app.
Compatible Z-Wave Lock Brands
The 2GIG GC Touch (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions) functions as a Z-Wave smart home gateway, allowing it to communicate with Z-Wave enabled devices including deadbolt locks. The following brands offer Z-Wave locks that work with the GC Touch:
Kwikset: The SmartCode series includes models like the 916, 914, and 888 with Z-Wave Plus capability. These locks feature Kwikset's SmartKey security cylinder, allowing you to re-key the lock yourself. The touchscreen and keypad versions offer PIN code entry in addition to remote control. Kwikset offers some WIFI capable locks. For a lock supported by the GC Touch, be sure the lock you purchase supports Z-Wave.
Yale: Yale Real Living locks including the YRD256, YRD226, and Assure Lock series support Z-Wave communication. Yale locks are known for their commercial-grade durability and offer both touchscreen and keypad options with auto-lock features. Yale does offer some WIFI capable locks that are supported on other platforms. To be sure that a lock is compatible with the GC Touch, be sure it supports Z-Wave.
Schlage: The Schlage Connect series (BE469, BE479, BE489) works with Z-Wave security systems. Schlage locks feature built-in alarm technology that detects potential tampering and are available in various styles including Camelot and Century designs.
Key Features When Paired
When you add a Z-Wave lock to your GC Touch, you gain several home automation capabilities. The panel touchscreen displays all enrolled locks in the Door Lock section under Devices, showing the current locked or unlocked status of each door. You can tap the toggle to lock or unlock any door directly from the panel without walking to each entrance.
Remote access through Alarm.com extends this control to your smartphone. You can check lock status, lock doors you may have forgotten, and receive notifications when locks are operated. Some locks also support user code management through the app, allowing you to create temporary codes for guests or service providers without sharing your main entry code.
The GC Touch supports automation rules that link lock behavior to your security system. For example, you can configure all doors to automatically lock when the system is armed, or unlock a specific door when you disarm. These scenes can be customized through the Alarm.com user website to match your household routines.
Adding a Z-Wave Lock
To pair a Z-Wave deadbolt with your GC Touch, access Settings using the Installer Code (1561 by default) and tap Automation Device. Select Add Device to put the panel into inclusion mode. Then follow your lock's instructions to enter pairing mode, which typically involves pressing a specific button sequence on the lock. Once the panel detects the lock, it will appear in your Device List with its assigned security level.
For best results, pair the lock while it is within a few feet of the panel, then move it to its permanent location. If your lock was previously paired with another Z-Wave controller, use the Remove Device option to exclude it before adding it to your GC Touch. When enrolling a new lock, it is also recommended to perform an exclusion (Remove Device) before attempting to include (Add Device) operation.
Non Z-Wave Locks
In addition to Z-Wave locks that pair directly with the panel, Alarm.com also supports certain third party smart locks that do not interface with the GC Touch locally. These locks connect through the Alarm.com platform instead of the panel's Z-Wave controller, allowing them to be controlled remotely using the Alarm.com app.
Supported models include select locks from Yale, Lockly, Kaadas, and Tedee. Examples include Yale Assure Lock 2 deadbolts (YRD410, YRD420, YRD430, YRD450) and Yale WIFI locks, Lockly Secure Plus deadbolts (PGD768FNP and PGD728ZPU), the Kaadas Z-Wave touchpad deadbolt (KA211), and Tedee Go, Tedee Pro, and Tedee WIFI locks.
Although these locks can not be controlled through the GC Touch panel itself, they can still be used with Alarm.com features such as remote locking and unlocking, notifications, and automation. You can create scenes and rules that reference the panel's armed or disarmed status, allowing these locks to behave similarly to Z-Wave locks within your overall system. This provides flexibility when choosing Z-Wave or WIFI based lock models, while still maintaining integration with your security system through Alarm.com.
Z-Wave deadbolt locks from Kwikset, Yale, and Schlage integrate directly with the 2GIG GC Touch for convenient control from the panel and through Alarm.com. In addition, certain non Z-Wave locks can still be integrated through Alarm.com for remote access and automation.
