Which Deadbolt Lock Is Compatible w/ an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?
Almost any Z-Wave deadbolt lock is compatible with an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5. But a Z-Wave controller will first need to be added to the system before Z-Wave devices can be used. This is the only way that a Simon XTi or XTi-5 Alarm System will be able to recognize Z-Wave devices.
For the Interlogix Simon XTi and XTi-5 Systems, there is only one possible way to obtain Z-Wave functionality. This is accomplished by installing an active cellular communicator and configuring the system with Alarm.com. All of the compatible cellular modules for the Simon XTi and XTi-5 Systems also double as Z-Wave controllers. Once the communicator is installed and activated, Z-Wave home automation will be made possible.
A Z-Wave lock can be added to the Z-Wave network much in the same way as other Z-Wave devices. This involves putting the system into its Z-Wave inclusion mode and then activating the inclusion function on the Z-Wave lock. Remember, it is always a good idea to first clear the lock from the network before attempting to enroll it with the system. This is because the device may have been previously included with a network as part of factory testing.
Once the Z-Wave lock has been added, the device can be operated (locked or unlocked) directly from the Simon XTi or XTi-5 Panel. A user can also operate the device from their Alarm.com account. By using the Alarm.com Mobile App, this can be done from virtually anywhere. This is great for situations where you need to lock or unlock your door while you are away from home. For example, you might unlock the door to let your children in when they get home from school or to allow your trusted neighborhood postal worker to put your delivery safely inside your residence. The Z-Wave lock can also be included in any Z-Wave scenes if desired.
