The Honeywell LTEIA-TC2 is a dual-path communicator kit for Resideo VISTA Security Panels. With this kit, you get a Honeywell LTE-IA Dual-Path Communicator and new PROM Chips for VISTA 15P and for VISTA 20P Systems. The PROM Chips are important for VISTA Systems on versions lower than 9.12.
A Honeywell VISTA 15P or VISTA 20P needs to be on Firmware Version 9.12 or higher and have a compatible AlarmNet Communicator to access Total Connect 2.0. The Firmware Version for one of these systems can be determined by checking the system's PROM Chip. This is a small black chip found on the main panel board. If you see a number lower than 9.12, then you will need to replace it. You should also be aware that if the number is less than 2.0, then you must replace the whole panel. A VISTA 15P or VISTA 20P running lower than 2.0 cannot receive PROM Chip upgrades. If you need a new communicator and a new PROM Chip, then this Honeywell LTEIA-TC2 kit is perfect for you.
For users who have a 15P or 20P that is already running 9.12 or higher, then you are better off just buying the standalone communicator. And if you have a Honeywell VISTA 21iP, then this kit is also not for you. This is because a 21iP PROM Chip is not included in this kit. A Honeywell VISTA 21iP must have PROM Chip of Version 3.13 or higher to use Total Connect 2.0. You can buy a standalone VISTA 21iP PROM Chip here. For more information on replacing a VISTA 21iP PROM Chip, please check this FAQ.
Replacing a PROM Chip on a VISTA Series System is fairly simple. Make sure to power down the system by disconnecting the backup battery and unplugging the transformer before beginning. You can use the metal end of a binder clip to carefully pry the old chip off the board. Then press the new one into place. Be careful not to bend any of the prongs on the new PROM Chip.
The main attraction of this kit is the Honeywell LTE-IA AlarmNet Dual-Path Communicator. By using this module, the system will communicate across IP using ethernet and through the AT&T LTE Network. This will allow the system to communicate across the AlarmNet Servers. Having cellular backup is particularly important, as it will keep the system online in case of any internet outage. With a dual-path setup, you can remain confident that the system will consistently be able to provide reliable monitoring service.
Accessing AlarmNet360 and Total Connect 2.0 will allow you to control your system remotely. You can use the Total Connect 2.0 Mobile App on an Android or iOS device to arm and disarm, check current status, control Z-Wave devices (Z-Wave controller add-on needed), view programmed security cameras, and more. Just remember that you will need a monitoring plan that includes Total Connect 2.0 to do this.
Note: A Verizon LTE version called the LTEIV-TC2 is also available here.
