The DSC NEO-2016-PK-ENC-VZ is a 3-1 system kit that includes a 16-zone DSC HS2016NK PowerSeries NEO Panel. You also get a DSC HS2LCDRF9 N NEO Keypad w/ Built-In PowerG Transceiver, an Alarm.com Verizon LTE & IP Dual-Path Communicator, 3 PowerG Contacts, a PowerG Motion, and an LT-Cable.
The DSC HS2016NK PowerSeries NEO is a hardwired system that supports only 16 zones. This is a relatively small number of zones, meaning that the panel is best-suited for smaller homes and businesses. It is also important to consider that there are only six (6) hardwired zone terminals built into the panel board. If you want to use additional hardwired sensors, you will need to add a DSC HSM2108 Expansion Module. Another option is to just use wireless PowerG Sensors instead.
This kit works with PowerG Sensors because of the DSC HS2LCDRF9 N NEO Keypad that comes included. There is a PowerG Transceiver built into this keypad, which lets the system send and receive signals with PowerG Sensors. You just need to have the keypad installed and programmed with the system. You will just want to keep the 16-zone limit in mind when planning your system. Both hardwired sensors and wireless PowerG Sensors count towards this limit.
We have also included a DSC TL880LTVZ N Verizon LTE and IP Dual-Path Communicator with this kit. The communicator is used for connecting the system with the Alarm.com servers. Not only does this enable fast and reliable monitoring service, it also allows the user to access Alarm.com platform to control their system. This platform is great for arming/disarming, checking current system status, controlling Z-Wave smart home devices, and more. Keep in mind that you have an alarm monitoring plan with access to Alarm.com to activate this module. This communicator also includes a built-in Z-Wave Plus controller, allowing you to establish a Z-Wave network around this system. Remember to use Z-Wave Plus devices for optimal range and battery life.
There are also some sensors bundled with this kit. You get three (3) DSC PG9303 Door and Window Contacts, and one (1) DSC PG9914 Motion Sensor. The PG9303 Contacts will let the system know when a door or window has been opened. The PG9914 Motion will detect changes in IR energy that occur with movement, and alert the system when movement is present. These PowerG Sensors can communicate with the DSC HS2LCDRF9 from up to 2km away when provided with a direct line of sight. PowerG Sensors also utilize 128-bit AES encryption for improved wireless security.
A Honeywell LT-Cable comes included with this kit. This makes it very easy to provide power to the system using the included transformer. Just remember that a backup battery is still needed. This will prevent any low-battery trouble conditions and keep the system powered on during electrical outages. A common battery to use for this purpose is the UltraTech 1240. However, you may need to upgrade to a more powerful battery, like the UltraTech 1270 if the system's power calculation is high. Remember that the typical backup battery will need to be replaced every three (3) to five (5) years.
