How Do I Add an Indoor Camera to the IQ Panel 5 System?

How Indoor Cameras Work With the IQ Panel 5

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) supports Live View for indoor cameras through the Alarm.com platform. Compatible models include the ADC-V530 4MP Indoor Camera and the ADC-V523X Indoor Camera with Night Vision. Indoor cameras connect to your home WIFI and register with Alarm.com — not directly to the panel. Once added and authorized, the Live View page on the panel displays a live feed from every authorized camera. Live View supports up to 40 cameras simultaneously and is accessible by swiping left from the home screen.

Indoor cameras are useful for monitoring entry points inside your home, keeping an eye on pets, checking in on family members, or watching package delivery areas near the door. You need an active Alarm.com monitoring plan that includes video features. Setup has two parts: adding the camera to your Alarm.com account, then authorizing it to stream to the panel in Video Settings. Without the authorization step, the camera appears in the Alarm.com app but not on the panel.

Part 1: Add the Camera to Alarm.com

1. Place the indoor camera in the desired location and connect it to your home WIFI. Follow the manufacturer's setup guide. The camera needs a stable WIFI connection to communicate with Alarm.com.

2. Log in to your Alarm.com account and navigate to Video. From the Alarm.com website or app, select Add Camera or follow the on-screen prompts to register a new video device.

3. Follow the Alarm.com setup wizard to complete camera registration. Once complete, the camera appears in your Alarm.com video device list and the Alarm.com app.

Part 2: Authorize the Camera to Stream to the Panel

1. In Alarm.com, navigate to Video Settings for your indoor camera. Log in to the Alarm.com website, go to Video, then Video Settings.

2. Enable authorization to stream to the panel. Toggle on Authorize all cameras to stream to panel, or enable authorization for the individual camera. This tells Alarm.com to push the camera feed to the IQ Panel 5.

3. Swipe left from the IQ Panel 5 home screen to reach the Live View page. The indoor camera appears in the camera list on the right side. Touch the camera name to see a thumbnail, then touch the play button to go full screen.

Viewing and Managing Indoor Cameras

Once authorized, the indoor camera appears in Live View every time you swipe left from the home screen. Touch play to watch the full-screen feed. If the camera supports two-way audio, press and hold the Talk button to speak through the camera's speaker — useful for communicating with family members or deterring intruders. Touch the red X to exit full screen. In Alarm.com Video Settings, you can configure motion detection zones, set up clip recording, and adjust privacy settings. Create home automation rules in Alarm.com — for example, triggering a camera recording whenever the front door opens or the security system is disarmed.
