How Outdoor Cameras Work With the IQ Panel 5

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) supports Live View for outdoor cameras through the Alarm.com platform. Compatible models include the ADC-V729 4MP Outdoor Floodlight Camera, the ADC-V731B Wire-Free Battery Spotlight Camera, and other Alarm.com outdoor models. Cameras connect to your home WIFI network and register with your Alarm.com account — not directly to the panel. Once added and authorized, the panel's Live View page displays a live feed from every authorized camera. Live View supports up to 40 cameras simultaneously.

You need an active Alarm.com monitoring plan that includes video features to use outdoor cameras with the IQ Panel 5. Setup has two parts: adding the camera to your Alarm.com account, then authorizing it to stream to the panel in Video Settings. Without the authorization step, the camera will appear in your Alarm.com app but not on the panel.

Part 1: Add the Camera to Alarm.com

1. Install the outdoor camera and connect it to your home WIFI. Follow the manufacturer's installation guide. The camera needs a stable WIFI connection to communicate with Alarm.com. For battery-powered cameras like the ADC-V731B, charge the battery before installing.

2. Log in to your Alarm.com account and navigate to Video. From the Alarm.com website or app, go to the Video section and select Add Camera or follow the on-screen prompts to register a new video device.

3. Follow the Alarm.com setup wizard to add your outdoor camera. The wizard walks you through connecting the camera to your account. Once complete, the camera appears in your Alarm.com video device list and in the Alarm.com app.

Part 2: Authorize the Camera to Stream to the Panel

1. In Alarm.com, navigate to Video Settings. Log in to the Alarm.com website, go to Video, then Video Settings for your outdoor camera.

2. Enable the setting to authorize the camera to stream to the panel. Toggle on Authorize all cameras to stream to panel, or enable the individual camera authorization. This tells Alarm.com to push the camera feed to the IQ Panel 5.

3. Swipe left from the IQ Panel 5 home screen to reach the Live View page. The camera appears in the camera list on the left side of the Live View page. Touch the camera name to see a thumbnail, then touch the play button to go full screen.

Viewing and Managing Outdoor Cameras

Once authorized, the outdoor camera appears in Live View every time you swipe left from the home screen. Touch the play button to watch the full-screen feed. Touch the Talk button to speak through the camera's speaker if the model supports two-way audio. The red X exits full-screen and returns you to the camera list. You can also view all your outdoor cameras from anywhere through the Alarm.com app, set up motion-triggered clip recording, and create home automation rules such as turning on a floodlight camera when the system arms away.
