How Do I Arm the IQ Panel 5 Security System With a Keyfob?

To arm the IQ Panel 5 with a keyfob, enroll a compatible PowerG keyfob such as the PG9929 or PG9939 through Advanced Settings. Once enrolled, press the Away or Stay arm button to arm the system. Keyfob Instant Arming is enabled by default, so there is no exit delay when arming with a keyfob.

What You Need

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) supports PowerG keyfobs for arming and disarming your security system without using the touchscreen. Compatible models include the PG9929 and PG9939 wireless keyfobs. Each keyfob has dedicated buttons for Away arm, Stay arm, Disarm, and Panic. Before you can use a keyfob to arm the system, it must be enrolled as a sensor through the Security Sensors menu.

Keyfob Instant Arming is enabled by default on the IQ Panel 5. This means there is no exit delay countdown when you arm with a keyfob — the system arms immediately when you press the arm button. This is ideal for arming as you leave through a door without waiting for the exit beeps. If you need the exit delay for keyfob arming, it can be disabled in Advanced Settings under Installation, then Security and Arming.

Step 1: Enroll the Keyfob

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings. The Settings page opens.

5. Press and hold the Away arm button on the keyfob until the LED flashes. The panel detects the keyfob and displays a confirmation popup with the DL ID.

6. Touch OK and configure the keyfob fields. Set the Sensor Type to Keyfob and choose the appropriate Sensor Group. Touch Add New to save the keyfob.

Step 2: Arm the System With the Keyfob

1. Make sure all doors and windows are closed and the system is disarmed. The green lock icon on the home screen confirms the system is ready to arm.

2. Press the Away arm or Stay arm button on the keyfob. The system arms immediately with no exit delay. Away arm activates all sensors including interior motion detectors. Stay arm activates door and window sensors only, leaving interior motion sensors inactive. The lock icon on the panel changes to orange to confirm the system is armed.

Keyfob Arming Settings

Two keyfob arming settings can be adjusted in Advanced Settings under Installation, then Security and Arming. Keyfob Instant Arming (enabled by default) removes the exit delay when arming with a keyfob. Disable this if you want the normal exit delay countdown to apply when using the keyfob. Keyfob Disarming (enabled by default) allows the keyfob to disarm the system. Keyfob Alarm Disarm (disabled by default) allows the keyfob to disarm the panel during an active alarm — enable this with caution. You can also pair your phone for Bluetooth disarming or use home automation features through the Alarm.com app for additional arming control.

Arming the IQ Panel 5 with a keyfob gives you a fast and convenient way to secure your home without using the touchscreen on the IQ Panel 5.
