How Do I Change the Installer Code on the IQ Panel 5 Panel?

To change the Installer Code on the IQ Panel 5, swipe down from the top of the screen, touch Settings, touch Advanced Settings, and enter the current Installer Code (1111 by default). Navigate to Installation, select Installer Code, and enter a new secure code to replace the factory default.

Before You Change the Installer Code

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) ships from the factory with a default Installer Code of 1111. The Installer Code protects access to sensor programming, arming configuration, WIFI settings, and other system-level menus. Because the default is publicly documented, changing it after installation is essential to protect your security system from unauthorized configuration changes.

The Installer Code is different from the Master Code (1234 by default) used for arming and disarming. You need the current Installer Code to change it. If the Installer Code is already set to something other than 1111, you will need to get it from whoever originally programmed the panel. Choose a new code that is not a simple sequence and does not match any other code on the panel.

Steps to Change the Installer Code

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen. The Settings Tray opens showing the Settings button.

6. Select Installer Code from the Installation menu. A code entry screen opens where you enter the new Installer Code.

7. Enter the new Installer Code and confirm it. Enter the code a second time to verify it. The panel saves the new Installer Code immediately.

After Changing the Installer Code

Once the Installer Code is updated, store the new code securely. The Installer Code is used whenever sensors need to be added or edited, arming behavior needs to be adjusted, or system tests need to be run. If the Installer Code is ever lost and the current code is unknown, the panel will need to be reset to factory defaults, which erases all programmed sensors and settings. Adding professional monitoring and expanding your system with home automation devices are great next steps after securing your access codes.
