How Do I Change the Master Code on the IQ Panel 5 Panel?

To change the Master Code on the IQ Panel 5, swipe down from the top of the screen, touch Settings, touch Advanced Settings, and enter the current Master Code (1234 by default). Touch User Management, select the existing Master user, edit the User Code field, and save the new code.

Before You Change the Master Code

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) ships with a default Master Code of 1234. This code controls access to arming, disarming, and user management. Since the default is publicly documented, changing it after installation is one of the most important steps for securing your security system. You need the current Master Code to make this change. If you do not know the current code, try the default 1234 first.

Choose a new code that is not easy to guess. Avoid simple sequences like 1111, 1234, or repeating digits. The Master Code can be either 4 or 6 digits depending on your panel's code length setting. You will need to confirm the new code by entering it twice during the update process.

Steps to Change the Master Code

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen. The Settings Tray opens showing the Settings button.

6. Select the existing Master user from the list. The user detail screen opens showing the First Name, Last Name, User Code, User Type, and other fields for that user.

7. Clear the User Code field and enter the new code. Enter the code again in the Confirm User Code field to verify it.

8. Touch Update. The new Master Code is saved immediately. Test it by swiping down, touching Settings, touching Advanced Settings, and entering the new code to confirm it works.

After Changing the Master Code

Once the Master Code is updated, make sure every authorized household member has the new code. The Master Code is the code used most often day-to-day, so writing it down and storing it securely is a good practice. You can also add additional user codes through User Management so other household members each have their own unique codes. Adding a monitoring plan lets you track which code was used to arm or disarm the system, giving you a full activity log linked to each user. You can also expand your system with home automation devices once your codes are secure.

Changing the Master Code on your IQ Panel 5 protects your system from unauthorized access and keeps your home secure on the IQ Panel 5.
