How Do I Connect My 2GIG GC Touch Panel to My Garage Door?

To connect your 2GIG GC Touch to a garage door, you need a compatible Z-Wave garage door controller. Access Settings, enter your Installer Code (1561 by default), tap Automation Device, then select Add Device. Put your controller into pairing mode and the panel will automatically detect it.

Z-Wave Garage Door Integration

The 2GIG GC Touch (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions) functions as a Z-Wave smart home gateway, allowing integration with compatible garage door controllers. Once paired, you can monitor garage door status and control opening and closing directly from the panel touchscreen or through the Alarm.com app. The Devices screen shows all enrolled garage doors with their current status (Open or Closed) and provides buttons to open or close each door. Popular compatible controllers include the Linear GD00Z and similar Z-Wave garage door devices.

Steps

  1. Disarm the system. Access to Settings requires the panel to be in Disarmed status.
  2. Tap the Settings icon. Locate the gear icon in the top-right corner of the home screen.
  3. Enter the Installer Code. Enter the current Installer Code (1561 by default), then tap Enter (↵) to access the full Installer Settings menu including Automation Device options.
  4. Tap Automation Device. This opens the Z-Wave device management menu with options for viewing, adding, and removing devices.
  5. Select Add Device. The panel enters Add Mode for 30 seconds and begins scanning for Z-Wave devices in pairing mode.
  6. Put your garage controller into pairing mode. Follow the manufacturer instructions for your specific garage door controller. Most require pressing a button on the device to initiate Z-Wave inclusion.
  7. Confirm the device addition. Once detected, the garage controller appears in the device list. The panel displays added devices with their Z-Wave security levels.
  8. Access garage controls from Devices. After enrollment, tap the sliders icon in the navigation bar, then select Garage to view and control your garage doors.

Connecting a garage door controller to the 2GIG GC Touch expands your smart home automation capabilities. You can monitor whether the garage is open or closed and control it remotely through your panel or the Alarm.com app. For help with Z-Wave devices on your GC Touch panel, contact the Alarm Grid support team at support@alarmgrid.com, Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
