How Do I Connect the IQ Panel 5 to My Home WIFI Network?

To connect the IQ Panel 5 to WIFI, swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings, then Advanced Settings. Enter your Installer Code (1111 by default), then select WIFI. The panel scans for nearby networks. Choose your home network from the list and enter your password to connect.

Why Connect to WIFI?

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) supports dual-path communication using both LTE cellular and WIFI. Connecting the panel to your home WIFI network is strongly recommended because it provides a second communication path alongside cellular, ensuring your monitored system can reach Alarm.com and your monitoring provider even if one path has an issue. WIFI also enables software updates, faster signal transmission, and access to the full range of Alarm.com features.

The IQ Panel 5 supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WIFI networks, and standard WPA2 password-protected networks are fully supported. If your router uses a hidden SSID or custom security settings, additional options are available under Advanced WIFI Settings on the network list page. Make sure you have your WIFI network name and password ready before starting.

How to Connect to WIFI

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen. The Settings Tray drops down, displaying quick-access controls for brightness, volume, WIFI status, and the Settings button.

  3. Touch Advanced Settings and enter your Installer Code. Touch Advanced Settings, then enter your Installer Code (1111 by default) when the keypad appears. The panel automatically advances once the correct code is entered. If you do not see the WIFI or Installation options after entering your code, you may have entered the Master Code instead, so go back and re-enter the Installer Code (1111).

  5. Select your network. Touch the name of your home WIFI network in the list. If your network does not appear, wait a moment for the scan to finish or touch the refresh option to scan again.
  6. Enter your password. Type your network password carefully using the on-screen keyboard, then touch Connect. The IQ Panel 5 does not display WIFI passwords after they are saved, so you will need to re-enter it if you reconnect later. The panel displays a confirmation showing your network name and "Connected Successfully" when the connection is complete.

Advanced WIFI Settings

At the bottom of the network list, the IQ Panel 5 offers a few additional connection options for situations where selecting a network from the list is not enough. Scanning a WIFI QR code lets the panel join a network without typing anything. Manually adding a network lets you type in a network name (SSID) directly, which is how you connect to a hidden network that does not broadcast its name. The Access Point settings are separate: they control the panel's own built-in hotspot, including its SSID, password, WPS, and DHCP range, and are primarily used for pairing IQ Remotes and secondary devices rather than connecting to your home internet.

After Connecting

Once the IQ Panel 5 is connected to WIFI, the WIFI icon in the Settings Tray shows the signal strength. The panel now communicates over both WIFI and LTE cellular simultaneously for dual-path reliability. Software updates download automatically over WIFI, keeping your panel firmware current. If you need to switch to a different network, for example after a router replacement, return to the same WIFI page, select the new network, and enter the new password. The panel saves the most recent network credentials and reconnects automatically after a reboot.

Connecting the IQ Panel 5 to your home WIFI network enables dual-path communication, faster signal transmission, and automatic software updates on the IQ Panel 5.
