How Do I Delete a Z-Wave Device From the IQ Panel 5 System?
To delete a Z-Wave device from the IQ Panel 5, swipe down, touch Settings, Advanced Settings, and enter the Installer Code (1111 by default). Go to Installation, Devices, Z-Wave Devices, and use Clear Device to remove an active device or Delete Failed Device to remove an unresponsive one.
Two Ways to Remove a Z-Wave Device
The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) has two separate options for removing Z-Wave devices, and which one to use depends on the situation. Clear Device (Exclusion) removes a device from the panel and simultaneously excludes it from the Z-Wave network. This is the right option for devices that are still powered and communicating — for example, removing a lock you are replacing or a light switch you are relocating. Use Clear Device when you plan to pair the device with a different controller.
Delete Failed Device is used when a device has stopped communicating with the panel and can no longer be reached. The panel can only delete a node using this option when it has confirmed the device is unresponsive. This is the right option for devices that have been physically removed, lost power permanently, or failed. You do not need to physically interact with the device to use Delete Failed Device.
Method 1: Clear Device (Active Device)
1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings. The Settings page opens.

4. Touch Clear Device. The panel begins sending an exclusion signal and displays a popup instructing you to press the learn or pair button on the device.

5. Press the pair or learn button on the Z-Wave device. Refer to the device's manual for the specific button location and procedure. Each Z-Wave device is different. The panel confirms when the device has been cleared and returns to the Z-Wave Devices menu.
Method 2: Delete Failed Device (Unresponsive Device)
1. Navigate to Installation, Devices, Z-Wave Devices as described above. The Z-Wave Devices menu opens.
2. Touch Delete Failed Device. A list of failed or unresponsive Z-Wave devices appears. Only devices the panel has confirmed are no longer communicating appear here.

3. Check the boxes next to the devices you want to remove, then touch Delete. The selected devices are removed from the panel's memory. No physical interaction with the device is required.
After Removing a Device
After clearing a device with Clear Device, it is excluded from the Z-Wave network and can be paired with a new controller. If you plan to add it back to the IQ Panel 5 later, simply use Add Device to re-enroll it. If the device will be moved to a different Z-Wave controller, no additional steps are needed — it is already excluded. You can expand your home automation setup by adding new Z-Wave devices at any time through the same Z-Wave Devices menu.
Knowing which removal method to use on the IQ Panel 5 ensures your Z-Wave network stays clean and devices can be re-paired without issues on the IQ Panel 5.
