How Do I Disable Chime on an Interlogix Simon XT?
You can disable chime on an Interlogix Simon XT from the main menu of the system. After the chime function has been set to "Off", the panel will no longer produce a chime sound when a sensor is activated. However, the sensor number will still be displayed on the screen when this occurs.
The option to enable or disable the chime function for an Interlogix Simon XT System is accessible from the system main menu. The two options are "On" and "Off". Setting the option to "Off" will disable the chime for the system. Please note that this option will only be present if there are currently chime sensors enrolled with the system.
Complete the following steps to disable the chime function on a Simon XT:
1. Find the chime option. From the main screen of the Simon XT System, scroll through the different menu options using the up and down arrows. Stop when you locate the option for "Chime".
2. Turn off chime. With the "Chime" option displayed on the screen, press the "OK" button. The current selection of "On" or "Off" should begin to flash. This indicates that the selection can be changed. Press the up or down arrow to toggle between the two options. To disable the chime, set the option to "Off". With "Off" displayed, press the "OK" button. The selection will stop flashing, indicating that it has been set.
3. Exit and test. Press the "Status" key to return to the main screen. Activate a sensor, and check to make sure that no system chime is produced. Make sure that this is a sensor that would otherwise produce a system chime if the option were enabled. Even though an audible chime will not be made, the sensor number for the activated device should still be displayed on the screen.
Remember, turning off the chime will not disable all sounds on the system. The system can still produce a siren and other sounds as designated.
